Hey, look!
The moths ^^^ are attracted to the flame again.
Watch out that you don't further singe your wings.
This metaphor of a moth attracted to the flame is a beautiful one. It is about the spirit’s yearning for the union with divinity in which it casts away the body, the unreal, and merge with the self-illumined, the real.
Let them come. May be illumination is yet to be.
No..that post was to you...and it was not a "cut & paste" or anywhere near verbatim. Look again...you'll see.
I related how my view of these responses could be likened to the "Funniest Home Videos" you said you found amusing as well.
I have copied and pasted my past posts hundreds of times on here. Some for years. Especially with new members.
The Religious & Spiritual views & beliefs I embrace have not changed...so what I said before still applies.
I don't bust on anyone about the Religious Beliefs they hold or the Faith they have. There are many paths to The Divine...I am cool with all of them, and respect that people hold them. I didn't always...but I've been enlightened and have come to a greater understanding.
I am entertained by some of the content here in the way I am entertained by horror movies.
Because this bashing and insults is on the internet, it is actually kinda removed from me...the same way the depiction of Freddie Krueger, Chucky, or Pennywise ripping someone up is not really part of actual life...thus, there can be a amusement factor to it.
Of course, neither one would I be amused or entertained by if it was actually happening directly to me or around me.
Your reply was to this comment of mine...
"I used to find those "Funniest Home Videos" very amusing as well...
I can't draw the comparison of that amusement to the comments you keep bashing in this thread, but humor is a very subjective matter as well. Just like most of all the rest here. Just like all that deserves bashing far as anyone is concerned and all those reasons why."
The first of your replies and this one above also reads as if you want to continue bashing away no matter what anyone posts. If all the bashing you go on about is "kinda removed" from you, it's very hard to tell from all your comments about bashing one thing or another.

This ties in nicely with a theme Ive been developing so thank you. I posted the song Runner in the praise song thread on the Christian form. I surmised the real race was accompanying the flame. It occured to me that the runner was actually the fuel. The moth is attracted to the flame and is consumed by it. So, playing with fire and not getting burned seems to be the most likely course.
Reminds me a bit of how our political system has become so divided, intractable and stalled. Much less about what is right or wrong, true or false, but who is on your side and who is not. Either you kiss the ring of the leader or you're the enemy. Another example of how human nature works regardless the truth of these matters.

I am sorry i dont get it. I have not seen the Runner or know the song you are referring to. Maybe you can give a gist?
Being consumed by the illumination is the point, the goal, the release, achieving Oneness, nonduality - in case it was not clear.
I may be mistaken but i think the origin of this metaphor is Rumi or one of the other Sufi saints who have all composed poetry of great beauty. It is a Sufi concept that repeats in many of their writings in various forms.
light dispels darkness in the sense that the darkness is transformed into light and becomes light.
it's called Illumination for a reason.
Given so much I read in this forum, comments like this one here always tend to remind me of poor Galileo Galilei...
Just in case anyone doesn't know what I mean, poor Galileo tried to point out what was actually light in a sea of darkness, the truth, about how we are not at the center of our solar system. All those who thought we were at the center believed what they did because they thought they were seeing the light. Bright as the sun!
All those many people who claimed they saw light where actually not only in the dark, but they made poor Galileo pay dearly for trying to bring light where there was darkness. Trying to bring "illumination." Often that's what promoting the truth will get for you. Why? Because it's human nature to let our emotions get the better of us, and this too is a fact born out just about every day in this forum. A great reminder for all of us I think.
