Jehovah says He has made Himself known, so there is no excuse.
1) Just because you read it in a book does not make it true.
2) Your Bible also says the ruler of this age has made us blind, so there is an excuse. Yet we will get punished because this ruler created by your god has lied to us?
I don't think there was any time "before religion" as long as humans have existed.
I believe the question is about before specific religions were formed. Christianity did not exist before the 1st century AD, and the original people of what is now the US did not know of Christianity for over 3/4 of it's existence.
I worship God, the Creator of the universe. The Scriptures I use contain the accounts of his interactions with man. There never was a "before".
As for after? God has decided that he'd save some. He chooses whom he wishes to save. The rest are punished according to their sin. The ones God wishes to save, he will grant them faith in Jesus.

Has nothing to do with a book. God has revealed Himself through creation. We are not blind to that. We are blind (many of us) to our sinful state and see no need for God.
There are many things that appear to be intrinsic to human beings. They are not all accurate or real, and they are not all good.
that doesn't address what was said. The point was that people have known from day one that we are in a larger more complex system. That humans seem to be just a part of that system.
So the statement above is accurate, it is real, and it is not bad. despite your what you want. I would say that your post fits you more that what he said.
religions in some form existed existed since recorded history. Its far more reliable to say they existed in some form or another before that than to say they didn't.
The agenda's come in when we start hearing things like "that's spiritual and not religious" and "we are talking specifically about the big religions today."
so we have to determine what we are doing. Looking for facts like there were probably religions since day one. Or are we looking to tell the theist today that "yo guy, your set of "the only truths" weren't first so ease up out of our faces."
