Once Jesus came onto the scene, the ways of the vengeful God (the father) went away. The times as shown in the Old Testament ended. A new chapter started.
Spoiler
Any ill and strife since then has either been as side effects of nature (the dangerous and decaying sides), as well as products of mankind. The God of the OT long ago gave up his actions characteristic of the early days.
Blaming God for problems now, just like blaming the devil, are both equally pointless.
