Barak Lurie is Jewish....therefore he doesn't know Jesus as his savior.

So I reckon when he dies he will end up being able to discuss his book with all us atheists.

atheist kill
theist kill

I only point out atheist killing when people point out religious killing. Neither is true enough to say it was actually the statement of belief that caused the killing.

Every one is due to an irrational person to me.

I ask those who think this book may be good or correct how is it different from those anti Semetic books from the late 1800s? Or from Mao anti academics writings that led to a horrific disaster? Or from the years of anti Catholic and anti Prodestant slaughters? Or from the anti Muslim anti Christian hatres?

Atheists are not all communists nor are Christians all facist. And it seems both simplistic and downright stupid when people think either of these nonsensical phrases are true. It seems like the goal of this book is to drive believers to more actively and feverishly hate and fear atheists and atheism. Is this a book any civil person wishes to promote or encourage.

I'm aware that some atheists talk about a desire to end religion however they do not speak for the vast majority of us, anymore than white supremists speak on behalf of Christians.
Almost all civilizations that peristed were of believers but I don't know off hand if any failed because primarily from their religion.

Here's the problem with this title:

Any of us with any knowledge of history can point to historical atrocities literally committed in the name of christianity and Islam, and probably other religions, as well.

It's quite a bit more difficult to find atrocities that were committed in the name of atheism.

Christians, Muslims, and other religionists kill.
So do atheists.

The question is, when is it the causative factor.

One cannot judge a book by it cover or its title.

Lurie remarks, in passing:

Quote:
The atheist will proclaim that no one has died in the name of godlessness. While that is technically true, it is a meaningless point. More meaningful is that millions have died because of godlessness. Atheism kills.
The most obvious example of a causative factor is Communism; a proudly atheistic movement that killed scores of millions.

Killing is not limited to killing people, but secularism/materialism 'kills' , that is, destroys everything that is sublime and noble.

It's difficult to decide if the premise is more ridiculous than stupid - or vice versa.

What the hell, it's equally ridiculous and stupid. Not to mention bordering on hate speech.

You should be ashamed.

Didn't good Christians kill scores of Native Americans? Neither atheism nor theism is to be blamed. People kill people. It is actually never about religion, it is about greed.

I put all focus and highlighting on the OP, for formulating this sensationalist thread. The title alone is all about pushing buttons and working people up, unnecessarily. It's also an advertisement, for what appears to be a sensationalist book.
