The million deities include the elements, directions, mountains and rivers, ocean, earth, etc. When you think everything is aspect of god it easy to assign a lord that governs each aspect.

Religion is not nationality. It has no borders. Hinduism is not ethnicity either. I think it is something Americans don't grasp easily.

Ha, no kidding. I live in New Jersey. We've got the largest Hindu temple in the world.

My state senator for my legislative district is named Vin Gopal. He is a Hindu born in Jersey to parents from Southern India. He came around knocking on doors on his first campaign and when he saw my cat he asked if he could pet her (she was a long-haired beauty). A couple of days later he send a note thanking me for letting him meet Foxy and asking for his support.

A clever politician? Sure, but a really nice guy besides and a homegrown boy. Grew up in Freehold, same as Bruce Springsteen. American for sure. Got my vote.

That's not surprising, given that it's only been in the past 30 years or so that there has been such a significant Indian population in the USA. It takes a while for new cultures and their religions to become visible and begin mingling with the already-existing population, but it happens inevitably.

That is nice. My daughter’s classmate from high school is a state senator. He has been coming around for support running for office since high school! A good guy as well. I will always support him and also give him money. He is Jewish.

Except that since late in the 12th century it has been a Buddhist temple.

Indeed. It was converted to a Buddhist temple. Wonder who they worship there now.

Maybe you should email that temple and tell them they are wrong.

That often happens . As doubt and question pile up, they get deeper in resistance.

Just as the largest Church in Byzantium is now a Mosque.
