Oh my goodness. That dreaded C word! I'm sure you spent many a sleepless night. What a relief!
I think that when quality of life goes up and people feel the state owes them, religion numbers drop. But believers in something (as in a pronoun to express no single belief) will always outnumber nothing or deny everything.
Plus, I really think its Christianity dropping the fastest in the states. No way a god sent his son to die for our sins can withstand commonsense.
Actually for me, that is the one thing I still believe in.
I don't know anybody that still goes to church except my niece. I also used to work in my church and that alone turned me off. Many people, myself included, will never understand a "God" that allows children to be murdered or starved to death. I don't give a crap about "free will". If he is all powerful he could stop it.
