Men working is historical...men that worked all day complaining about dudes that only worked an hour getting paid the same as them, is both historical and metaphorical.
And often complete fiction.

Again you attack non-existent people. But when you have no rational arguments, I suppose such childish games is all you have left.

I think this is where we start to agree. So long as you stay within religion and out of how the universe works, you make some great points.

You, like many religion-st type people, then move from "How I feel about religion" to "How I feel bout religion gets to decide how the universe works."

One book must be, even when it's influence has often been negative.

that is true.

This is where I believe you should give the opposing belief (Mine) some credit. Lets us not act like our enemies every time. That being mixing how we feel about the book crossing over to how we describe the books nitch.

Yes, the book is amazing. Its also not meant to be literal. It has some nasty bits in it. At least as nasty as the good is good.

The bible had serous impacts on our lives. But in 2021, believing that something literally sent its son to die and rise for our sins is lunacy.

Many (most) have "instinctual feel" that there is a God, and God is "good".
Specifically, what is "good", and what is "evil"...objectively, with anything and everything considered? And not just humans.

Yes. And it is fading fast, being more and more relegated to a fringing group, i.e. believers.

It's going to have to be good enough for you. It's a philosophy, NOT the Code of Federal Regulations.

I agree to a great degree with what you said.

The problem is that so many believers hold it up as the absolute truth, i.e. that it IS literal, but fall back to it is "figurative" whenever they get cornered by it's nonsense. As soon as that passes, they are back to acting as if it is factually, objectively and literally true.

And this clear intellectual dishonesty is a huge problem for our cultural and our political future. Unfortunately the highest ranks among the clergy have a vested interest in perpetuating this behavior, whether because they themselves believe it to the same degree or because the realize it is the best way to manipulate the uneducated and gullible masses...or quite possibly both, I think. Either way, it does not bode well for the future of America.
