unaffiliated and "I don't have to say anything" (usually meaning only telling others they are wrong or avoiding topics that some think religious will latch onto) are quite different.

This web page link looks pretty racist with all the identifying skin color people, must come from the non-religious.

It says a lot about you if you fear data.

Why is atheism still not recognized as a genre in it's own right?

They want to call it something else. It is buried within 'Religiously unaffiliated'
Quote:
Religiously unaffiliated Americans comprise those who do not claim any particular religious affiliation (17%) and those who identify as atheist (3%) or agnostic (3%).

I'm not sure I believe only 3% of the US population are atheist.
1/3 to 1/2 the UK population are atheist. The US is worlds apart of course but I'm thinking Americans maybe aren't asked the question directly.

Plus they've separated atheism and agnosticism as though they are different things when you can be both.

I think there are many Americans who are atheist but would not say so.

it is. it's called "atheism."
it doesn't get any clearer than that.
