I was never Lutheran either, but had no issue sharing in the event (communion) along with the rest.
I'll always choose community and what unites us, over religion and division.
Jesus didn't stand up at the Last Supper and exclude people in the room over petty reasons, and neither should we. Religion and division will alwaysbe a stumbling block to fully understanding Jesus and his message. That was a big part of what kept the Jews from understanding as well. It can take many forms, but it is all adverse to spiritually and connection with God.
post above bold IS divisive and contentious.
saying religion is "all adverse to connection with God" is divisive and adverse [harmful, unfavorable]. and inaccurate.
so no, you don't "always choose what unites us." rather your posts consistently focus on division and hostility towards religion.
when someone actually "chooses what unites us" they don't express such strident hostility towards those with different paths of "religion and spirituality."

Describing the truth about the divisiveness of privileging your religious BELIEFS ABOUT God over others is NOT strident hostility, it is just truth. What should unite us is belief in God, NOT WHAT we believe ABOUT God that divides us. Discriminating against those who differ in the specifics of their beliefs about God is unwarranted hubris because no matter how confidently we believe in the dogma of any religion, it is BELIEF NOT fact!
Long, long time ago, in the civilization, that was One and was ruled by Enlightened Monarch, there was only One faith. But, as the traders civilization took over, unifying faith was first broken, then hidden, then ersatz lie was given then, that lie was broken into pieces and served as The Truths to those, open to accept them.
Thinking in The Light was replaced with caleydscopic fragmented hodge podge of chunks of lies.
There is a book, going back in its origins some 90 000 years. I forgot its name, CB here likely does. That one is about the last remnant from the Times of One Truth.
