you do realize that Jesus is the head of the body of Christ right? You being a Calvinist should understand that all who are in Christ are predestined to life, yet for whatever reason you cannot see what I am saying.
You said that God predestines the church, but not the individual. How does that work?
No one chooses who they want to fall in love with - that spark is either there or it isn't. You can't make yourself fall in love. Some people try to claim they've "learned to love" a spouse they've been married to for a long time - but I believe that's more psychological addiction rather than love.
But the potter does not take his marching orders from the clay.
In a manner of speech, potter does.
Potter can not make an air balloon out of it. Or, a fishing string. Or, a feather. You could come up with your own examples.
Reason being, there are limitations in the clay's nature that, indirectly, guide potter only into certain choices. A mug. A vase. A plate. Maybe something more intricate yet, useless, as it won't stand practical use.
Hence, potter has free will within certain parameters, limited by the material, it works with. Ezoterically speaking, that material creator determined that potter life.
Same works for everything else.
Conceptually, there are limitations in everything, allowing only a limited choice of options. One may free will it all he wants to or, have faith all he wants to yet, he will die under the water without a breathing apparatus.
And that is called indirect management. When one has certain set of limitations, he exists in, with according subset of limitations to his free will.
Those, who create those limitations, rule the world. Indirectly. Imagine a balanced pyramid, made out of sand. At the tip of it, there is just one grain of sand. One, who tips that grain and causes it to slide, will cause devastating avalanche, burying everything in its path, at the pyramid foundation.

Now you're going off on a tangent and trying to say what the writer never intended by using that illustration.
