There is much believers rely upon that to me seems "self-defeating" in some ways, but certainly not as far as they are concerned, so "no harm no foul" when it comes to such beliefs I suppose. Again, "whatever works" as they say...
More like "self-serving" might be closer to the mark all considered, and I suppose there's nothing really wrong with that either. For the same reason, but aside from all that I guess I'll never understand this rationale that gets us to believe that "God is the very essence of nature and the natural," as if to suggest God is not a supernatural concept.
The essential reason you and I will forever have this disconnect, is because you have your own definition of God different from the one more commonly or generally found in the dictionary. First one that popped up when I Googled for the definition of God just now too. Below:
God
Religion
noun
1.
(in Christianity and other monotheistic religions) the creator and ruler of the universe and source of all moral authority; the supreme being.
2.
(in certain other religions) a superhuman being or spirit worshiped as having power over nature or human fortunes; a deity.
Of course you can have your own definitions just like we can all have our own opinions (right, wrong or close), but based on the common dictionary definition, "supreme being," "superhuman being," "spirit" "having power over nature or human fortunes," "deity," all describe what is more typically known or understood to be supernatural.
Of course we essentially disagree about a god to exist in the first place, but at least here I'm trying to distill the essence of why we disagree. In particular with regard to your definition of God and the supernatural different from mine.
Best I can do in any case as I've really got to move onto other things now. Thanks for getting back to me about this, though you glossed over some of the corrections I wanted you to consider about your descriptions of my opinions expressed in this forum. Misrepresentations. Nevertheless, I appreciate your getting back to me as a result of my request. Cheers.
