Stay away from organizations, and the issues of others which can't be controlled. Simple as that.

We see this is part of Norm's obsession with the Southern Baptist Church, to go with the previous thread:

As if any of these complaints and rock-throwing by one person against millions will be noticed!
It does. When I became a Girl Scout leader about 25 years ago, one of the rules was that while a man could be a leader, a man-and-wife team could not be co-leaders. The reason for this was an actual case where a male leader was molesting little Girl Scouts, and his wife looked the other way.

The fact of the matter is that predators who want access to children for sexual purposes will go to any setting, religious or otherwise, where they think they can acquire such access.

Agree. They are not above the laws of man, which many think they are. While forgiveness may come from belief in Jesus as God, the laws of man aren't that easily avoided.

A case like that is hard to believe, but I processed a fairly young soldier that molested a 7 and 5 year old on a playground while his wife stood watch so he could do it. Many would rather ignore it as not to have to deal with the reality, embarrassment, etc.

The issue is when it is ignored in a particular group, it lets others know that they too can get away with it. Narcissists (religious leaders with the "holier than thou) put themselves before all men and God, so the sky is the limit.

In the same way, it's possible (and healthy) to worship God without having any connection with any church or specific religion. Cut out all the compromise and hypocrisy that get in the way and pulls things down into the gutter.
You cannot play junior or pro team sports without being part of an organization. The examples in sports were of Double A and major league hockey of boys or men trying to make it to play hockey for a living.

That players were sexually abused by their coaches is far from background noise and in both cases because the organizations kept the abuse secret further boys endef up being abused. Thst is why the cover ups are even worse than the abuses.I

The samevwith church sex scandals cover ups allow for future and preventable abuses. People should be abke to be part of organizations without fear of sexual or physical abuse. Period and end of story.

What should happen, and what the reality is, are two different matters. Life is far from perfect.

Abuses should be exposed and called out. But if that's not enough, and doesn't fully solve the situation, you have to separate yourself from the brokenness and dysfunction. Avoid any connection whatsoever. Sometimes that's the only sensible direction you can go in, period (winky wink).
