It was stated by the Jewish posters that they were chosen to be a light to the nations, in my understanding.
So that creates the question of how did/does that play out? It seems in the OT, the Israelites were insular and not reaching out to the other nations, God kept them "separate".
So, I'm not understand what exactly, their "light" was/is? Certainly there has been scientific discoveries and so much more, attributable to Jews, but is this the type of "light" referred to?

"Light" is not a religion. Or a land. Or a people.
Its "light up everything". Be as open and honest as we can to investigate what belief match what we know and experience on a daily basis. Use the best process we can to help people choose their own way.
I don't know about any "light", but even in the Bible, God gave up on the idea of a chosen people/group. That was all scrapped, with Jesus taking over as the focus, and being for one and all. Perhaps it was due to all the frustration and bumbling back in period of the OT. Maybe it went to their heads - them being select or special - so there could be no more of that moving forward.
At Pentecost it was the Christian congregation that replaced fleshly national Israel.
Jerusalem 'above' became the seat of government - Galatians 4:26
Since Pentecost it is 'Spiritual Israel' (the Christian congregation) a nation Not located on any map and has No borders.

Seems like a deity that has to scrap its own plans isn't very good at planning, or predicting how his own created beings will (not) respond. An all powerful and all knowing deity should never be surprised.
But to your question, S&S, I think the notion was that since god chose them to reveal himself to them, that in so doing he indirectly revealed himself to all mankind. Also, it is convenient for Christianity that Jesus can then be, post hoc, claimed to complete the fulfillment of this (Luke 2:29-32).

I guess when you are omniscient you can "know" and "not know" simultaneously. Just like you can pick up rocks that you create that are too heavy for you to lift.
As for the Hebrew people. I suspect there are countless other tribes and groups of people throughout history that thought they had special dispensation from their god or gods. We just don't have the accounts of them.
He started off a Jew, but by the time of his ministry, and especially the end of his ministry and time on earth, he was in opposition to them. Look at his clashes with both the established Jews (Pharisees and Sadducees), and Jewish population in general, who yelled for him to be stoned and thrown out of cities, and ultimately to be crucified.
He would have still been a Jew, just in a different sect. And much of the theology in the gospels was shared with the Pharisees. The Sadducees were in opposition to the Pharisees (and Essenes, and other Jewish sects), yet they were still Jews.

Didn’t you ask him what is then the case with nations that came and gone before the arrival of Jewish nation?
How were those nations supposed get benefit from this light that was never there?
