Generally speaking condescension and sarcasm don't open many doors. Whereas if you approach people with respect and sincerity, they are more likely to do you the favor of responding.

Oh, please. You know this from your own belief system. Other's have differing beliefs. It is not common knowledge. There are plenty who do not believe in this form of reincarnation.
I consider it common knowledge because it is widely accepted by humans across the world, across culture, across race, and across the centuries. To me that is a common body of knowledge.

They have to stay in and do their wings and stuff. I mean, after a week on the job I'm sure they'd have some ruffled feathers that would need to be preened... haloes polished.... harps tuned or re-strung.... clouds to be fluffed up... etc. Ain't easy being an angel y'know.
