Ya know, this speaking in tongues was a weird and mysterious thing to me...I tend to go after these kinds of things,
(but not Kundalini, I leave that alone!).
So I read about it...but mostly I read about Healings. (What a mystery that was! Why do some get healed and the next guy doesn't?)
Anyhoo, being dragged to a Christian revival type convention about 1000 people...I got healed. Next night dragged again..and I received the Bap in the Holy Spirit.
(And I must say...WOW!)
5 days later I'm praying in tongues in my car.
My point: Discover what the heck it is for yourself instead of reading other people's speculations.
Nothing like going INTO the pet shop instead of looking at the puppy in the window.

What ailment did you have that was healed at the revival?
This is always a point of contention regarding the legitimacy of miraculous healing.

Repeating what you think you hear is much like an infant, but like Paul said prefer to prophesy, Saying something not understood is one thing, saying what is understood is another.
One that interprets may or may not actually know what was said, but believe they have the message that was intended.
Most of the time there are not secondary interpreters lacking the condition laid down by Paul.
More importantly however is striving for the relationship you listen and obey what God tells you, and not reliant on some one else’s gift.
There is very strong judgment on false prophets, take care you don’t fall into that snare, trusting men in place of God.

I had a relative who used to watch Ernest Angley do his faith healings on television, and she asked what I thought about it. I told her that if he even get a realistic looking toupee I have little faith in his ability to cure cancer.

Oh, I've talked about it so much... my left hip ball and socket were like to surfaces of sand paper after a decade old kick boxing exercise mistake.
I could write a paragraph about the pain, the ice, the pillows, the limping...the pounding on my hip to wake it up ...$$ spent, the therapies to the area for over a decade. Oy.
It was healed at one of those Altar Calls - 2009.
Astonishing at the time.
I'm not amazed anymore at healings...it would be astonishing if someone was NOT healed now.
My short time with Charismatics was wonderful.
PS
A story- I went to a wedding reception of a Mayoral candidate, a buddy of mine ---a who's who...ran into a
mover and shaker that said, 'Hey ...howyadoin?'...I BEAMED...I just got healed from a HUGE problem I had, I'm doin' GREAT!
She had to be pulled away from me... instantly attacking me as to WHY did I get healed when blablabla others didn't ...Did I think I was special?
Wow, Lolololol.CRAZY stuff out there, I tellya...lots of angry people.
(I had fixed her up with a sexy guy, btw, 5 yrs before.)
She had a sticker in her panties about somethin'!!!
So I'm used to 'opposition' - right outta the gate!! ha!
It's like I'm Enemy #1...cuz I was healed at a Christian gathering! Still makes me lol.

I believe you Miss H. I listened to "The Body Keeps the Score" and learned how our trauma is stored in our bodies. Something or Someone released that. Everyone has some trauma and some of us a lot and it shows up as physical pain. That's my hypothesis at least. It's wonderful you were healed.

Some people are more susceptible to hypnosis than are others. And placebos, while a substitute medication for the genuine article, CAN be effective if the person taking the placebo believes that it will be effective. And placebos CAN be effective even if the person KNOWS that the medication is a placebo. How about that!
It's the human mind, not the Holy Spirit or the charismatic preacher or some supernatural occurrence that does the healing. The same is true of so-called charismatic 'tongues' that may appear to come out of nowhere. The mind can and does work in mysterious ways. Moreover, as previously mentioned, there is ALMOST ALWAYS some association with the Pentecostal Church whenever these supposed 'miracles' take place.

Well, you can think what you wish...I have no association with any Church since maybe late 2010...still plenty of 'things', let's call them, occur.
I can also say until I felt the Holy Spirit I did not know what the heck anyone was really saying.
I'm certainly not here to defend my exp...but, thought I would say a bit of a counter, more to other readers.
I don't believe in miracles, per se... just things happen that many don't understand
so they think they are supernatural ...yet, they're very natural.
