It's amusing that Jesus is commonly pictured as having blue eyes but doubtful that he did.
Why is this myth perpetuated?

Because a lot of white, Anglo-Saxon, Protestant folks would rather eat dung for the rest of their lives than worship a man who looks like a dark skinned Palestinian.

The dark skinned Arabs are more likely descended from Africans.

Christianity hobbled Western culture - and more importantly - Western science - for almost a thousand years. Yeah, yeah, I know people like to think that Christianity somehow propelled Western civilization into the Renaissance - but no. In fact, it was quite the opposite.
All you have to do is look at the almost child-like, one-demensional art throughout the Medieval period that was almost exclusively inspired by Christianity. I could paint better pictures and I'm not very artistic. At all. Compare the exquisite sculpting of classical Greece and Rome - then compare that with the amateur paintings of the Medieval period - and then compare that with the literal master-class works of Michaelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci during the Renaissance.
And that's just one example. For almost a thousand years, Catholicism held Western civilization in a vice-grip. Those who failed to convert were often executed or imprisoned. It was a time when one could literally buy their way into heaven and when books were heavily censored to ensure science marched in lockstep behind religion. Even doctors had to earn a degree in theology before they could practice medicine - at least in certain places.
Some people just love to equate the rise of Western civilization to Christianity - especially Catholicism - even though that is light years from the truth. Rome didn't fall - it decayed. The science and knowledge required to maintain a city like Rome was either lost or forbidden - considered unimportant compared to the rubbish written in the Bible. Even today, modern scientists have been unable to replicate the type of concrete the Romans used. Today, we have to use ”reinforced concrete” with iron rebar inside which oxidizes and expands, causing bad cracks. Roman concrete has stayed intact for 3,000 years. What buildings that did not fall into ruin were picked over for their stone.
The great Colisseum was used to pen animals while its exquisite stonework was torn apart to build tiny medieval hovels. The exquisite engineering of the aquaducts was also lost and they dried up. Bathing and hygiene became a memory allowing disease and plague to run roughshod over the population. Instead of actual medicine, people simply fell to their knees in prayer to Yahweh who never helped anyone save the Hebrews anyway. When prayer didn't work, they turned against each other, blaming this or that minority group for living sinful lives. (Over 100,000 women were burned at the stake for witchcraft during the Black Death in Germania alone). Charlemagne rampaged through France murdering everyone who did not convert to Catholicism on the spot. As the notion of living forever took hold, the great cities of the Roman Empire in the West crumbled and fell, turning into overcrowded cesspools with open sewage, primitive wooden buildings, and religion breathing down their necks.
Given the clenched-fist rulership style of the Church - the clergy and the Pope placing themselves even above kings and emperors - there was very little Christianity actually practiced. The New Testament was all but ignored (as it still is today, oddly enough). The supposed ”inherent goodness” of Jesus was almost never preached - just like today in the USA there are giant and powerful swathes of Christianity that barely even mention Jesus or his teachings, instead gravitating toward the authoritarian, fascistic, power-mad malignant narcissism of the Old Testament and Yahweh. I would hate to see Western Civilization be forced to wait another thousand years for a Renaissance as we forget the science we now know, reverting back to primitivism and superstition. After all, it happened to Rome.

This is another completely nonsensical analysis. Jesus is just one figure among many religious figureheads in world religion. Christianity itself has been (and still is) torn apart internally between those who wish to follow the authoritarian fascism of Yahweh and the tolerant, love-spreading Jesus Christ. For over 500 years, Protestants and Catholics murdered each other with impunity causing no end to European wars. There are over 30,000 different denominations, sects, castes, and cults just within Christianity - which proves beyond a doubt that Jesus does not unify people. He - like all of religion - divides us. In fact, I would argue that religion is the single most divisive paradigm ever invented by human beings.
Never mind, even, the Muslims who still butcher each other in their mad desire to be the dominant sect - civilians, women, children, everyone is a target - as the Sunnis and Shi'ites blow each other up, the more people who die, the better. The Jihadists launch their terror in China, India, Russia and everywhere they can to bring down non-Islamic states hoping to force all women behind a burqua and all education to come from only the Quran. To live again as if this were the 6th Century A.D.
To say that God (Yahweh) loves us all is patently absurd. Yahweh cares only about his own power, his own rulership over humanity. He is no different than Josef Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Pol Pot, or Sadam Hussein, murdering tens of millions in mere fits of rage, ordering the Hebrews to wipe out every man, woman, and child in over two dozen cities - even the animals are put to the sword. I have often said to put the image in your mind of an innocent little girl playing with her treasured pet kitten - and a Hebrew soldier comes up and squashes the kitten under his boot while running the little girl through with a spear as she cries, "Why?" over and over until she is too weak to talk, her parents lying in pools of blood only inches away. That is your God - your Yahweh - and what he represents.
Even your vaunted Jesus is as hateful and nasty as Yahweh for it was Jesus who introduced the most immoral, the most repugnant and disgusting concept in religion: Hell. The idea of eternal, never-ending torture with no chance of redemption or forgiveness. Yeah, forgiveness - that term you hear a lot about in Christianity yet seems rather lacking when the rubber meets the road. This is merely a modern-day Charlemagne - those who refuse to convert will die. Forgiveness only comes to those who fall to their knees and spend forever begging and praising, praising and begging, serving the same ugly god that murdered 42 children for simply calling a man "old baldhead." Yahweh - the actual being behind Jesus - was a monster.
It's a shame that there isn't a real God, a real Son, who actually practiced what they preached - who really *did* forgive and did not demand love, worship, and praise - like a child who woke up every day forgetting he was an omnipotent being. It's up to we lowly humans to constantly remind him.
And this may come as a surprise, but Christianity wasn't the first religion or even the first set of secular laws that told us to love each other - to do unto others as they would do unto us. Such words were written as far back as the Sumerian civilization - and no doubt it was passed on verbally before even that. There was no need for a vengeful, city-destroying, child-murdering, plague-delivering god who relished in torture, a god who literally stood up and shouted how vengeful he was, a god who set the Hebrews onto every city-state in the region. The only power said religion packed was the power of war and genocide. Like most every religion that worships egomaniacs.

If we’re talking about Levantine Mizrahi Jews, absolutely.
Ashkenazi Jews, who are on average around half-and-half of Levantine and Southern European origin, definitely have lighter skin, eyes, and hair, as a whole. But there are plenty of darker-colored Ashkenazim (and certainly more so than the non-Jews they lived alongside in most of their European host nations), and, as I mentioned before, there are a lot more lighter-colored Levantine people than most people realize.
(Spanish and Portuguese-descended) Sephardic Jews are somewhere in between Ashkenazim and Levantine Mizrahim in terms of coloring.
