If I had to guess, based on reading I've done so far, I'd say that Iraneus created the "Catholic Church" as we know it today.

Irenaeus was certainly influential; but it cannot be said that he created something new. He was after all ordained by someone (most likely Polycarp) into the office of bishop in an already existing and therefore previously established institution.

Well so far I have not read of any of them being "ordained". Maybe I'll come across something that will change my mind.

How else could Irenaeus have become a bishop? He had to receive orders somehow.

You are presuming though. I haven't read anything on ordination from their writings so far.

What am I presuming? Do you dispute that he was a bishop?

No the topic was being ordained, not if he was a bishop or not.

How else would one become a bishop? Do you think he declared himself one? If he did this, he would still have to be recognized.
