Somehow I don't feel the sense of drama or get goosebumps just because someone comes into town riding a donkey. Maybe it's just me but I would think that someone important should have a motorcade.

Historically speaking, a donkey in that day, would be similar to a ford taurus with a sunroof and the optional six CD changer.
