I don't get on here much anymore and I wanted to say HI to everyone. It's nearly impossible to just DM everyone. I miss you all.
I know we're not supposed to start threads like this here, so I thought I had better add a bit of "religion" to it! Thought I would keep it simple yet on topic. lol
The last time I went to a church? Funny story. When I was stationed in Japan we had "exercises" that consisted of Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical warfare training. They had inspectors who watched over everything. If you were too slow putting on a gas mask then you were deemed "dead" and could not participate for the rest of the week. That sounds like more of a reward than a punishment. So, realizing this, I made it blatantly obvious to get myself "killed" in the middle of the first attack so as to take myself out of the exercice. After all, wearing chemical suits and gas masks all week during the summer makes for a very miserable experience.
I then found out what "dead" people had to do. It wasn't a "Get Out of the Exercise Free" card. We had to go to the base chapel for twelve hours a day and watch videos on the different alarm codes and types of agents used in that type of warfare. It was like something out of A Clockwork Orange. So, I basically sat in the chapel for 12 hours a day the rest of the week watching stupid videos on chemical warfare. Interestingly enough, I found out about the different types of radiation caused by the fallout of nuclear explosions while I was in there. So, it wasn't a bad thing because as I looked into it further, I discovered why this was - strong and weak nuclear forces; things of that nature.
So, I guess you could say my last "church" experience was not what people would typically expect. Most people learn about God in a church... I learned about nuclear, biological, and chemical warfare.
I am at church every sunday. Because my wife is the children's director at our church, we arrive early and leave late every week. I am also on site frequently during the week to help her out. Sometimes we do the store run to get items for the church like toilet paper and water bottles....
During the week our church has evening prayer, so we go to prayer usually on saturday for one hour as well.
It seems that nowadays the only time I'm in a church is to attend a funeral of a friend or family member...Sadly as I get older I find myself in church more often..
Kawg and Angel, I haven't seen much from either of you in awhile, good to see you on the forum again. As far as church is concerned the last time I was in a church was when my brother got married in Missouri which was years ago. I'll be going to another church wedding in Seattle next month when my nephew gets married. I hope I don't have a panic attack like the little boy in the movie The Omen (I'll probably be ok, he was supposed to be the Antichrist)
