The word of God is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two edged sword and pierces even to the dividing of the soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is able to discern thoughts and intentions of the heart." (Heb 4:12) The power of any Bible study lies within the power of God's word. Read the cited Scriptures.

THE LAW OF ATTRACTION REPELS GOD
A Letter mainly to Christians but also to those still in the world.

These days it seems everyone from Oprah Winfrey to preacher Joel Osteen has been entrapped by a new age form of spirituality known most commonly under the term "The Law of Attraction."

According to this philosophy one must understand that at our most basic quantum level all things, humans, animals, plants, rocks, the table we sit at, the clothes we wear, the planets and stars that occupy the universe, all are made of exactly the same material, vibrating atoms, and this being the case we can tap into that energy. How? By being expectant and positive. That's it. Simple isn't it.

If we learn to be positive, to send our happy thought energy into the universe it will float about it gathering up more happy or good energy and then somehow find it's way back to us in the form of answered wishes, desires fulfilled. Or, if you sent bad vibes it goes out gathering up more negative energy and gives it back to you in way of a curse plaguing your life with bad luck. Why? Because energy attracts like energy.

To those who have trouble accepting that nothing but mere energy can bring blessings and maledictions there are others in the field who give a more personified and purposeful offering, a form of god (2Tim 3:5) that they most commonly call "the source."

There was a time when God's name, Jehovah, (Ps 83:18) was known, used and honored. It is recorded some 7000 times in the Old Testament portion of the Bible alone. But as time passed we little humans decided that name no longer mattered and so began calling Jehovah by titles such as God and Lord. Now, these new age spiritualists obscure God even more by calling him "the source," or any number of other meaningless names, this in an attempt not to offend the people who read their teachings. Do they worry about offending God in doing this? Of course not, no more than those in times past. (Ex 20:7 / Lu 11:2) See The Divine Name
THE DIVINE NAME; JEHOVAH (http://www.wtv-zone.com/bibleguidance/divinenamejehovah.html - broken link)

~Repels God by being even further obscured, depersonalized.~

But then, who needs to know God's name when they can know "Abraham," the name given to a collective of "evolved spirit entities" that are channelled through Esther Hicks. And what is the message that these spirits have so kindly come to give? That "desire is a good and natural force within us, in fact, we are all here to fulfill our desires."

That's it? That's the only reason we're here? Not a very meaningful life, but if evolved spirits so generously came to tell us our whole reason for living then who are we to question? I'll tell you who we are! We are beings of contemplation and with the ability to reason and if we value our lives at all we will absolutely question. Who are these spirits? Why do they want to encourage us to embrace such an egotistic life of self gratification? Is Esther Hicks doing good by channelling them?

Since this letter is written mainly to those of you who think of yourselves of Christians I say that as Christians, I am sure you value the word of God as a book of truth, a book from God to guide us and set matters straight (2Tim 3:15-16 / Jh 17:17 / Eph 6:17-18) To answer these questions and all questions on this matter then, we shall turn to the Bible for reliable and inspired guidance.

First, go ahead and read the Mini-Study on Death and if you've the time, go on to read the Full study on Death and then return. These studies will help you to understand that there is no spiritual afterlife that humans go on to after they die for death is the punishment God laid down upon us for our sin, therefore death is non-existence. Not the most mystical and dreamy answer but the Bible deals in truth, and this, as Jesus said, is God's word, and as such, is truth. (Eccl 9:5-10 / Ezek 18:4 / Gen 3:17-19 / Rom 6:23) Knowing this you should ask, "If these "Abraham" spirits are not evolved human spirits, what are they?" There is only one thing left that they could be, to answer bluntly, they are demons.

Satan and his demons are not Evolved spirits, but DEvolved spirits, having once been God's heavenly messengers but are now fallen angels, wicked opposers of God and his truth. Banished from heaven to the vicinity of earth where in great anger he and his demons prowl about like a hungry lion wishing to devour someone (Rev 12:9 / 1Pet 5:8) their entire agenda is to contradict God's word and lead humans astray, away from pure worship and accurate knowledge. [Please read http://www.wtv-zone.com/bibleguidance/1Astudy3satan1.html (broken link)Who or What is Satan?] God's word says that the whole world is lying in the power o the wicked one, that Satan is misleading the entire inhabited earth! (Rev 12:9 / 1Jh 5:19) One of the ways this is accomplished is through the cunning of making bad seem good. "Satan himself keeps transforming himself into an angel of light." (2Cor 11:3-14)

And the message these demons have to give? "Be kind to yourself." (Matt 16:22-23, Matt 4:8-10) "Just reach out and take/receive all that you can get, focus all your thoughts on your desires, think intently on fulfilling them, life is all about you and your ambitions, your cravings, it is why you are here. If you can't 'manifest' them yourself then there is a form of God, a source out there just waiting for you to be receptive to all the fleshly gifts he wants so badly to shower you with; riches, power, love, health, everything you desire, source wants you to have it, just make it the focus of your life, because, it is why you are here."

~Repels God by obscuring from the eyes of those whom they mislead the events God is bringing upon the earth~

~Repels God by painting Him as a belching treasure chest~

What a pleasant message, but yet what a blinding one. So preoccupied with fulfilling their desires are they who are entrapped by this quest, that they have little time to see what is coming upon the world! (This I will discuss shortly)

Does God's word agree with these 'misleading inspired utterances and teachings of demons?" (1Tim 4:1-2) Of course not. It says that 'each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desires," and that "desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin and in turn, sin, when it has been done, brings forth death." (Jas 1:14-15)

So, a preoccupation with ones desires does not lead to the fulfillment of life's purpose, but is instead a danger leading a person to commit sin. But even further than this, our fleshly desires "do not originate with God," (1Jh 2:16-17) and if they do not originate with God how can it be believed that God wishes to shower us with the fulfilling of them? All of these desires, every one of them, is to pass away along with this world, and so, what is the worth of obsessing over them? Do the will of God and live to enjoy the world of His promise (2Pet 3:10-13) where He will open His hand "satisfying the desire of every living thing. (Ps 145:16) But in this world, no, our desires are not of God's concern. [Again, I will address this later] (Eph 5:5, 4:22-24, 2:2-3 / Rom 1:24:26 / Matt 15:19, 5:28 / Mr 4:19 / Heb 13:5 / 1Tim 6:10 / Gen 3:6)

~Repels God by spreading the lies of demons~

Lastly, in this issue of Esther Hick's channelled "Abraham" spirits. (and incidentally the taking of this name is blasphemous for these demons knew what they were doing to call themselves Abraham for Abraham was a man, in the Bible, called "God's friend") Do you realize how strongly God feels about all forms of spiritism? (these days called "spirituality") "...you must not learn to do according to the detestable things of those nations. There should not be found in you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, anyone who employs divination, a practicer of magic or anyone who looks for omens or a sorcerer or one who binds others with a spell, or anyone who consults a spirit medium or a professional foreteller of events or anyone who inquires of the dead. For everybody doing these things is something detestable to Jehovah and on account of these things Jehovah is driving them away from before you. You should prove yourselves faultless with Jehovah your God." Do not make the mistake of believing God no longer feels this way or that these words somehow do not apply to you. The Bible was "written and recorded for a warning to us." (Deut 18:10-13 / 1Cor 10:11)

Why does God forbid these things? Because their powers came from demons. Why specifically does he forbid spirit mediums, channelling spirits? Because since humans die and do not go on to live as spirits there is only one form of spirit that would contact us by forbidden means (and with contradictory messages to boot) and that is the fallen angels, Satan and his demons. It is in loving protection that God forbids us to listen to channelled spirits or to tamper in any form of spiritism. (from Abracadabra to the Zodiac) If you are interested in spiritism (often called spirituality today) you would do well to look up these Scriptural texts and learn what God feels of such things and what will happen to you if you continue on with them. *(Isa 8:19, 47:1, 12:14 / 1Sam 28:7, 15:22-23 / 1Chron 10:13 / Gal 5:19-21 / Rev 21:8 / Lev 20:6, 27 / Mal 3:5 / Acts 19:18-19)

~Repels God by it's spiritism/spiritistic practice~

It is sad enough to me to know people without knowledge of God can be so easily misled by Satan's machinations, but it is even more disheartening knowing there are those out there claiming to know God, claiming to be Christian being led away by these fraudulent teachings for I know God's condemnation of them is righteous and His judgement will be carried out. (Rev 19:1-2 / Jude 6, 14, 15)

I speak now of preacher Joel Osteen. It matters not which sermon you hear, the message is always the same, one of a completely unjudgemental and all-forgiving God that is filled with an abundance and all of it for you. Just as with the spiritualists who espouse the "Law of Attraction," Osteen gives the soothing tidings that God is no more than a benevolent slave to our desires, a sort of genie granting our every wish, and all we must do to receive it is live a life of Godly devotion (no real explanation on what that means) and be expectant of it all with open positive thoughts.

This is a far cry from the God of the Bible who has very profound and precise requirements of us and who absolutely will see that we are judged. (Matt 25:31-32 / 2Pet 3:7 / Acts 17:31 / Jh 5:28-29) These false teachings as we've already shown, are a far cry from those found in God's word and a far cry from the ways and attitudes of first century Christians whose joy came, not from expecting God to fulfill their fleshly desires, but from obeying, worshipping and serving Him.

~Repels God by teaching He is in service to us, not that we should serve Him~

Osteen is often accused of using very few Scriptural texts to support his teachings, something he admits to. Also he has been accused of misapplying the few texts he has used. He does what he must to make it appear that what he is teaching is the will of God, when in fact it is not.

Instead of teaching Biblical truth in accurate knowledge, Osteen says he'd rather give people hope by teaching practical principals. Is it practical to lead people away from the only knowledge that will give them everlasting life? Is it practical to believe God wants nothing more of us than to be good and receive blassings from Him? Paul warned about believing our godly devotion is a means to a great (material) gain. (1Tim 6:5)

Joel Osteen's church is the largest church in America, claiming some 20,000 attendees at each sermon and thousands more via television. That is a lot of people coming to have their "ears tickled" by "smooth talk and complementary speech." Osteen, along with these new age spiritists "seduce the hearts of the naive." (1Tim 4:34 / Rom 16:18) Once again it is the pleasing message of fleshly prosperity that is used and because of the ego and greed of sinful man, people flock in droves to hear it. Sadly many are on the wide road leading to destruction. (Matt 7:13-23)

What makes me feel so bad about Osteen is that he seems like a very nice man who truly wants to help people be happy. He truly believes that if he doesn't teach the solid food of the Bible, so as not to confuse his followers, and that if he doesn't use the oppressive words "sin, sinner and sinful" or does not tell them that they have done and will do wrong and that God will judge them, for in Osteens words "that doesn't inspire," or that if he preaches a benign happy message he will not alienate the diverse audience of people that Jesus came to save that he has been "used by God to give hope." As much as i like Osteen I must always stand up for God and His wisdom. Ignorance does not free a man from responsibility. (Prov 1:28-29 / Hos 4:6)

By not teaching the solid food of the Bible, that is the deep and more complicated issues of the divine will, he condemns his followers and indeed himself from ever advancing to maturity as a Christian. (Heb 6:1, 5:14)

By refusing to reveal God's issues of right and wrong, of sin and redemption from sin, of the judgement sure to befall them, Osteen keeps himself and his followers ignorant of these vitally important issues so when the time comes they will be ill equipped to stand before God.

The benign and happy message of prosperity and divine blessing may not alienate from Osteen those Jesus came to save, but it absolutely alienates them from Christ for nowhere in Osteens sermons is taught how one through Christ can save their souls from sin. Yes, there is more to being saved than simply believing in Jesus. (How Can I Be Saved? (http://www.wtv-zone.com/bibleguidance/1AQAhowtobesaved.html - broken link)See How Do I Get Saved?)

"God has a plan for you!" Osteen coos at every sermon, unfortunately, it is not the sunshine and lollipops gospel that he and the new age spiritists believe it is. There is so much more to know, so much happening that is concealed from their views. Jesus spoke of people such as these when he said "Let them be. Blind guides is what they are. If then a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit." (Matt 15:14)

~Repels God by seducing people into choosing ignorance over truth~

What is it then that makes the philosophy of the Law of Attraction seem to work? One or more of three things. One is coincidence: "A sequence of events that although accidental, seem to have been planned or arranged."

Another reason is that the demons who push this idea are more than happy to oblige person's requests just to back the idea up. They did in times past, they do so today. They know that the more evidence that seems to have accumulated under their lie, the more true it appears. (2Thess 2:99-12)

And lastly, the Law of Attraction is said to work for good or bad depending upon your outlook. As Michael Losier says "Like attracts like, we create our reality by what we think." So, as we turn our thoughts and feelings toward the positive we begin to act in harmony with those good feelings, becoming happier and friendlier and thus we attract, by our disposition, like-minded forward-moving persons who by their momentum move us forward toward better things as well. Conversely, if you are a negative grumpy person who cannot believe you are worthy of good things you will attract stagnant negative people who will help to hold you in place.

These are not the mysterious, magical, whimsical answers that spiritists like to give, but they are the simplest and most reasonable answers. God does not wish for you to live in fanciful imaginary places, no matter their appeal to you, but he wants you to have an accurate knowledge of the truth, a truth that will bring you everlasting life in His promised new world. (1Tim 2:3-4 / Col 1:9-10 / Phil 1:9-11 / Jh 17:3)

A word often heard from those who believe in the Law of Attraction is "Manifesting." Manifesting, according to the dictionary, means "To make clearly apparent to the understanding." But really, there is noting clearly apparent about the notion of making things appear, as if by magic, simply by sending positive thought into the universe. Perhaps tampering with a form of magical arts is truly what this is - well, we know from where the "magic" is coming from now, I hope. (If necessary please go back and read the Scriptures provided on spiritism.)

The demon spirits of "Abraham" claim our existence is for the fulfillment of our desires and all other teachers of this "law" concur. The fulfillment of ones desires is the driving force of this movement, everything about it is centered upon self satisfaction, seeking personal pleasure, making oneself happy. God's word speaks of these people today saying they would be "lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self assuming, haughty, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, having a form of godly devotion (the abundant source) but proving it false to it's power..." ["and from these turn away."] (2Tim 3:1-5)

How haughty and self assuming it is to believe you can manipulate the powers of the universe (with no more than your thoughts) to do your bidding or that you and your worldly carnal desires are so important to God (or source) that He just sits up there waiting for you to become receptive to all the pleasures he craves to give you. How haughty indeed!

This takes me to the last two points I'd like to touch on, one is life's true purpose and the other is in the form of a question; "Doesn't God want us to be happy?" - Of course He does, but not in the sensual ways that we in our sinful state desire. For instance, God doesn't care a lick if we are financially well off. He knows it's harder for those who have much in this world to "disown" themselves. He knows it is difficult for those with money to see their need of Him and His Son. (Mr 4:18-19, 10:17-23 / Job 31:24-28) Jesus said "Stop storing up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, " (Matt 6:19-25) Likewise the apostle Paul said "So, having sustenance and covering, we shall be content with these things." (1Tim 6:7-10)

God does want us to be happy, but not to the exclusion of everything else. The joy God wishes we have is gained, not by positive expectation, not for gratification of fleshly desires, but by our faith in our God and His works. (Phil 1:25 / Rom 14:17, 15:13 / Isa 25:9, 65:17-18 / Lu 2:10-14 / Ps 35:9, 144:15, 97:12 / 1Thess 2:19:20) It is only in this joy that Christ could say "Happy are you when people reproach you and persecute you and lyingly say every sort of wicked thing against you for my sake. Rejoice and leap for joy, since your reward is great in the heavens;" (Matt 5:11-12 / 1Pet 3:14, 4:14 / Jas 1:2 / Acts 5:40-41) Thus it is not in standing about expecting God to give us money or love or success or even health that gives real satisfaction, but it is found in the serving of God. (Heb 13:15 / Lu 22:26-27 / 1Cor 9:16-17 / 2Tim 4:2-5 / Acts 6:4) "...whoever wants to be great among you must be your minister, whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave. Just as the Son of man came, not to be ministered to, but to minister and give his life in exchange for many." (Matt 20:26-28)

(Joy of service - Lu 10:1-17, 22:26-27 / Heb 13:15 / Rom 15:13, 12:12 / Acts 20:35, 15:3, 13:48 & 52, 5:41, 65:14-18, 6:4 / 1Pet 1:8, 3:14, 4:14 / 1Cor 9:16-17 / 2Tim 4:2-5 / Ps 100:2, 97:12, 35:9 / Prov 16:20 / Neh 8:10 / James 1:2 / Matt 5:11-12)

I realize that "serving God" will not sound like a very appealing way to spend your life, not a means to happiness, not to many people, especially people still in the world - and by "in the world" I mean that you still live by and for a world that is to be wiped away. Jesus said his followers would be no part of the world, thus they would not share in or imitate it's ways. Many in Christendom are also in the world for they have no real understanding of what being no part of the world means. (NO PART OF THE WORLD? (http://www.wtv-zone.com/bibleguidance/1AQAnopartworld.html - broken link)See Q&A No Part Of The World)

To those who understand and live their lives out of the world, serving God brings great joy because they know it brings great joy to God and they are assured too that they will be richly rewarded for their loyal service. (1Tim 4:16 / ) *[God's Kingdom, What, When, Where & Why? (http://www.wtv-zone.com/bibleguidance/1Astudy5kingdom1.html - broken link)Study on God's Kingdom)

This brings us to the last point of this issue, our purpose here. One can turn to demon spirits for the answer, but you will surely be led astray, or you can turn to humans for the answer and just end up confused for there are as many human answers out there as there are humans, or you can trust your own heart to tell you what your purpose is, but the heart is treacherous and desperate and thus unreliable. (Jer 17:9) The best place to turn to in searching for our purpose here is to look to the One who put us here.

Christendom, that is every mainstream denomination and nondenominational faith, will tell you basically the same thing as the world, that your purpose is to live a successful life, good education, good job, nice home, happy family, safe retirement, financially covered funeral. They give you the same answers as anyone in the world would because they are part of the world. This answer, although the natural ambition of man, is not a purpose for which one should live. And if you think this sounds like a fine purpose then think of this, in this world ruled by sin, how many awful things can easily come into our lives and take our happiness quickly away. Lose of employment, loss of homes, illness, death, any number of things could happen. This is why Jesus says we should not store up treasures upon earth, for rust and moth (time and unforeseen occurrence - Eccl 9;11) consume and thieves break in and steal. (Matt 6:19-20) No, this is not our purpose.

You will get a much different answer from Jehovah's Witnesses who live by a theocracy, by God's rule, by God's word and this alone. Being so adherent to the Bible and it's teachings Jehovah's Witnesses are very much out of the world, their worship without spot from it, which is one of the identifying marks of the one true faith. (Eph 4:3-5 / Jas 1:27) (Study this site and you will see that they possess every identifying mark of true worship. Perhaps you could start On Jehovah's Witnesses (http://www.wtv-zone.com/bibleguidance/onjehovahswitnesses.html - broken link)HERE)

Sure, you can listen to the prejudice against us, you can feed into the hate the world has for us (Jh 15:18-21, Jh 17:14 / Matt 24:9), or, you can open your mind to understand our beliefs the way you opened your mind to "Abraham" and all the others you've been listening to. You will find our beliefs are not really so strange, they are just without spot from the world. You have nothing to lose by this and everything to gain.

Okay, the purpose of life...

Are you ready?

SERVING GOD!

That's right, serving God, and NOT expecting God to serve us. Our purpose is to get up off our spoiled, lazy behinds and serving God. It's the same answer to what makes us happy, deeply satisfied, content and at peace in a world full of fear and desperation. This is the real purpose of life.

Now wait a minute, don't go away now after you read everything else, this is important. I'm going to explain WHY serving God is our purpose and HOW to do it, but first, yet two more ways this philosophy repels God...

~Repels God by blinding people to real happiness~

Repels God by blinding people to their true purpose for being here.~

Now, on serving God...

"The conclusion of the matter, everything having been said is, Fear the true God and keep His commandments for this is the whole obligation of man." Eccl 12:13

"He that says he remains in union with him is under obligation to go on walking just as that one (Jesus) walked." 1Jh 2:6

"Beloved ones, if this is how God loved us, then we are ourselves under obligation to love one another." 1Jh 4:11

FEAR GOD; which means to have great respect for Hi and a fear of displeasing Him because you love Him and want to make Him happy. ( Ps 112:1, 119:11)

KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS; which goes so much further than the 10 commandments and you will learn them as you study and come to know God. (1Jh 3:22, Jh 14:18, 21)

WALK AS JESUS WALKED; which means being a footstep follower, doing everything he did, including making God's name known and preaching the good news of the kingdom. (1Pet 2:21 / Jh 13:15)

LOVE ONE ANOTHER; love is the greatest commandment of God and we are to love as he loved us. (1Jh 4:16-19, 4:7-8 / Jh 13:34-35)

Is that it? No, but these are the basics. Each of these things can be elaborated on but for now I will elaborate only how Jesus walked because it is in imitating his example that we truly know what it is to serve God.

Jesus made the ministry his entire life's work, in fact he said "For this I have been born and for this I came into the world, to bear witness to the truth." (Jh 18:37) What was that truth and how did he bear witness to them?

He taught that he came to fulfill the prophesies that he was the messiah, that he came redeem man from their sin and offer them everlasting life. (Jh 14:6, 3:36, 3:16, 10:11) He taught God's kingdom, and he himself as king, which would rule the entire earth and bring blessings to mankind. (Lu 22:29, 1:32-33 / Matt 4:17, 6:33 / see also links on kingdom above)

He taught the bodily resurrection of the dead, showing by miracles that God gave him the power to do so. These will be resurrected into the new earth. He also taught the spiritual resurrection of the chosen little flock of 144,000 anointed ones. (Jh 5:28-29, 11:23-24 / Acts 9:36-41 / Lu 12:32 / Rev 20:4-5 / DEATH, WHAT IS IT? (http://www.wtv-zone.com/bibleguidance/1Astudy2death1.html - broken link)see study on Death)

He taught truth uncompromisingly and renounced the false religious practice of the religious leaders of his day. (Jh 8:40-45 / Matt 15:1-9, 23:13-23) He made his Father's name, Jehovah, "manifest" to everyone and that that name be honored, teaching that his Father was God Almighty and that people should worship his Father. (Jh 14:28, 20:17, 4:23-24, 17:6 / Matt 6:9 / see also The Trinity Doctrine (http://www.wtv-zone.com/bibleguidance/1Astudy7trinity1.html - broken link)see also Trinity Study)

He taught us to watch for the sign of his presence for this would mark the last days of our world and that following the tribulation where Babylon the Great (false religion) goats and sheep would be taken care of, Armageddon would come to end human rule and abyss Satan and his demons. (Matt 24:3-51, 13:49-50, 25:31-32 & 46 / Dan 2:44 / Ps 37:10-11 / Rev 18:2-4, 20:1-3)

While Jesus taught more truths than these, these are the main truths. Jesus used every opportunity to preach, traveling all over the region, preaching in marketplaces, synagogues, in the streets, along the waterside, in gardens and mountainsides and from house to house. He taught his followers to do the very same.

(Matt 28:19-20, 24:24 / Lu 8:1 / Acts 20:27, 20:20, 26:20, 17:2, 5:42, 17:17 / Isa 12:4-5 / Col 1:28-29 / 1Cor 9:16-17 / 2Cor 10:4-5 / Rom 15:8-9 / Ezek 3:17-19 / 2Tim 4:2 / Prov 1:20-21 / )

Why is preaching things, in God's service, so important, why should it make anyone happy to do so? Well, first of all you should realize what a great privilege it is to preach these things to people? Christ said that now, in our very day, God would send a people out into the world to preach his truths. Jehovah's Witnesses are the only faith organized to accomplish this worldwide work. To us it is a blessing and an honor to know we have this work to do. Why? Because it is a lifesaving work, everyone who listens and comes to the truth will be rewarded with everlasting life in paradise. (Matt 24:14 says "This good news...will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations" It is a warning sound, for a witness, a warning, to all the nations before the tribulation, "and then the end will come." (Rom 10:13-14)

Knowing you are in the work of God, in the work of saving lives, is the most profound purpose one could ever have and this brings far greater happiness and joy than the "manifesting" or "expecting" of the fulfillment of fleshly desires ever could. This is why Jehovah's Witnesses are seen on street corners, in the marketplaces, knocking on doors, it is a wonderful and important work, a joyous purpose.

This is new to many of you, things you've perhaps never heard or never thought of before, but I ask you to think about them, really contemplate the meaning of it all. Think about all the things God is trying to teach you through the Scriptures you've read here. And if you haven't read them, please, go back and do so.

You can believe your purpose is to live a successful life, job, house, car, family, retirement, or you can believe your purpose is self gratification through manifesting, energy collecting or source expecting, or you can step up. Come to God and serve Him in the most important meaningful purpose you could ever have, and realize, that is the ONLY purpose, the ONLY way you will gain the REAL life, everlasting life in a beautiful world ruled by God's kingdom.

My purpose in life isn't to be a subserviant slave to some imaginary dictator. And another problem with this is that people of other faiths think the exact same thing about their faith.

I do understand what you're saying. I bought that book, started to read it and was very uncomfortable for the reasons you cited. I took it before the Lord for a long time, and finally came to the conclusion that if there is a "Law of Attraction", which I personally believe there is to a certain extent, it was created by God. The verses cited in the book are true, i.e., "you have not because you ask not." I also have personal experience with tithing and the utter blessings bestowed by God as a result. We have just seen time and time again that you cannot outgive God. I believe the Jabez prayer is too often misunderstood as being selfish.

I have seen people bring sickness and trouble upon themselves. BUT, where the book falls down is by putting the emphasis on people rather than God. People don't know the power they have because God is unlimited, but there is a line not to cross. I can see where the book would lead people away from God by failing to know where your strength comes from.

Thanks for your comments.

the law of attraction is God in action.
God is love.
When i am filled with god i attract only love into my life.
Perfect love casteth out all fear.

So the law of attraction is another way of saying by dwelling always in God, in my thoughts, in my actions, in my beliefs, in my words, then i live fully in God's love, in God's grace, in God's will for my life. I attract to me all God's bounty for my life.

every step a prayer, every breath a prayer

The name Jehovah is only found in English translations of the Bible and was only recently invented.

It is a blend of the original Hebrew Tetragrammaton and, with modification, the vowels of Adonai. Many Jews and Christians are insulted by the name, and find it a blasphemy.

Therefore, I find your entire argument in suspect.

Default Hate?

You write, "Sure, you can listen to the prejudice against us, you can feed into the hate the world has for us (Jh 15:18-21, Jh 17:14 / Matt 24:9), or, you can open your mind to understand our beliefs the way you opened your mind to "Abraham" and all the others you've been listening to."

Hate? You speak of "hate"? I spent 38 years of my life hearing about this "hate" at the Kingdom Hall. "Isn't it terrible the hate that the world has for us?? Their hate will eat them up. So hateful..." But this is mostly paranoia since, apart from atrocities that occurred in Malawi, Nazi Germany and occasionally in other lands--just as such things have happened to many, many other religions--JWs are tolerated as simply a kooky-but-harmless sect by the majority of the world.

How about the hate that is encouraged by the Watchtower Society, the leadership body of Jehovah's Witnesses? Yes, they actually admonish members to "HATE" former members who have left their organization and no longer believe in it. No, they don't merely tell you to "HATE" what they've done, but actually to "HATE" the individuals as evil enemies of God, not even worthy of prayer. Why? Is it because those who leave are murderous, thieving, child-abusing godless ones? Not at all. Any of those things are perfectly excusable, as long as those so accused later bow to congregation elders. There's really only one thing that conjures up their "HATE": when someone simply no longer believes that the Watchtower Society represents the sole channel of communication of God to the entire planet. You cannot leave the authority of the men who lead them. Inexcusable. Bring on the hate.

As one who certainly did 'open my mind to understanding Watchtower beliefs,' in a four-generation JW family, and who served as an elder and actually taught these beliefs, I can say that it is you who needs to 'open up your mind.' While I can acknowledge that those who try to intertwine New Testament Christianity with the gospel of financial abundance are speciously avoiding the scriptures, the story of Jesus Christ very much supports that basic principle that "our beliefs impact our reality."

Why else would Jesus say, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.†[Matthew 7:20, NIV] Why would the Bible record the experience of Jesus and Peter, walking on water? It notes that Peter’s ability to do so required his faith (or belief) that he could, and that it was when he observed the physical things (wind and water) that he let his faith wane and began to sink.

You can make a case that the way many have positioned the Law of Attraction is not biblical, but the basic concept is very much supported.

You write, "Christendom, that is every mainstream denomination and nondenominational faith, will tell you basically the same thing as the world, that your purpose is to live a successful life, good education, good job, nice home, happy family, safe retirement, financially covered funeral." Oh really? Every one of them? Is that so?

The fact is you don't have a clue about "every" on of those faiths and what they "will tell you." You are merely parroting the Watchtower Society when you succumb to their wishes by choosing to believe that there really are only two religious organizations: God's (which is, of course, the Watchtower's religious publishing company) and Satan's (which includes every other religion on the planet.)

You, yes you, are encouraged to "open your mind."

I didn;t get much that part. If the basic etymology of a name gets screwed up like that,t hen the entire document is highly suspect.

Good thing for the OP that C-D doesn't charge by the word.

To the OP...

Your god, jehovah no not, didn't matter for far more of our specie's existance than the past 3 thousand some odd years he's been around.

Was there a point to your novel?

Default Give it up already!!!

Just another fear based attack on anything other than the literal word of the bible. We as a species must constantly reevaluate our history (including religion) and pursue the truth. The "secret" is not wrong or evil in any way. It simply says that you will attract into your life that which you believe and that choice is yours.
I believe it is just a matter of time before the foundation of all religions as we know them will be faced with a terrible realization. But if it comforts you to cling to your beliefs until then, please do so without jamming it down the throats of the open minded. Biblical threats of condemnation interupt my daily Zen.

Best
KC
