Bible was written in the old days with outdated human knowledge. Read this:

Quote:
Psalm 104:5 (New International Version)

5 He set the earth on its foundations;
it can never be moved.
It says earth was laid on foundation like house, and it can never be moved.

Well, as you all know, earth is a moving and free spinning ball in space. Shouldn't there be some new "wisdom words" in the Bible replacing the old?

Can you move the earth from her orbit? It is set in place just as it should be. built on the foundation of wisdom, built on the rock of ages, built on the chief cornerstone.

So you dont believe in the invisible foundations the earth stands on. It may move on that foundation but does not leave the foundation is not moved from the foundation. Look at a radar, it moves on its foundation but does not leave its foundation.

Well, first, Psalms is poetry. It is lyrical. Thus it is not meant to be taken verbatim. There is imagery and word play here, just as in today's poetry. This is one part of the bible that does need interpretation, to an extent, because it is poetry and songs and should not be read and treated accordingly.

Second, you're reading into the bible that the word "foundation" in this useage means one like a house. I personally don't think that's the author's intent. I take it to mean the Earth is fixed where it properly should be and will not be moved from where it is fixed. The earth has been established exactly how God wanted it established and that will never change.

In the manner in which you're interpreting would then say because Christ is my foundation He is my basement? No .. and the same imagery does not apply to this verse either.

Blessings

There are lots of those "interpretations", and lots of "interpreters". Bin Laden was one of those "interpreters". To him, everything in the scriptures can be explained as martyrdom duties.

To say earth has a divined foundation is plain stupid.

The earth will never be moved by anyone other than Him. As far as the Bible needing anything new.....Ecclesiastes 1:9 "History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new".
The Bible has everything in it we will ever need to know.

Are you looking for an answer or are you here just to flame ? Seriously..

Osama doesn't use the bible, he uses the Koran ... completely different book. How he interprets the Koran is also said to be wrong by Muslims. That has nothing to do with your question regarding Psalms .. which are poetry and song.

When you say "watch the sun rise" do you mean the sun actually rises?? No, because the sun doesn't move, the Earth moves. We say sunrise from our perspective. When you say "four corners of the Earth" does the earth really have four corners? No, because it is a sphere. The same literary principle applies to the verse you posted.

About "moved", I don't know if you know about action-reaction rule?

The bible says that he hangs the earth on nothing.

Looks like Fundamentalist re-wrote the Bible closer to reality.

(Koran needs updating too. But there are no Koran people around)
