Someone explain to me about Easter. First, why is it an easter bunny? 2nd why do we get chocolate eggs? 3rd, why does a bunny bring eggs? 4th how does any of this relate to Easter in the religious sense?
I am looking for a logical answer not just some line about marketing to a religious group. Is there any actual correlation between any of these things?
Naw...That is just the commercial side of Easter....Merchants gotta take advantage of every opportunity to sell stuff ya know...They do it for every Holiday, religious or not.
Rabbits symbolize fertility, and eggs symbolize new life/birth/etc. Chocolate is commercialism, and the tastiest part of all this mayhem, if I may say so. As someone else said, it's all a bastardization of a pagan holiday by Christians in the same way that Yule/Winter Solstice became Christmas.
We just call it Zombie Jesus Day. A day full of delicious foods, chocolate bunnies and napping So, basically an average Sunday except I can go to the stores and less people are there!
we can know just so much about easter, even go into all possible accounts of history - yet (as "christians") seemingly not escape the cruelties from which we were supposed to be delivered, once and for all.
Its a shame that everyone has to make fun of Christians, and they get a free pass all the time!
Try that with Muslims, (they cut off your heads), or Jews, (they have the antijewish defemation league), or any other religion and you will get your heads handed to you...(some in the literal sense!).
Easter happens to fall in with a pagan ritual of renewing the Earth, (Mother Earth to wiccans), and the fertility rites of a new beginning. Since rabbits multiply fast, (and boy, if you ever raised them critters, you would know, they DO!), so, thats another addition to the pagan thought process of fertility.
Zombie Jesus day? All I have to say is, you had better be right, because if your not, then your soul is going to be in eternal jeapordy, and hell is not a pleasant place to spend the rest of eternity.
Myself, I am glad that I am a Christian and am Saved. At least I have the promise of being with the LORD forever...and thats more than anyone can give me on this planet!
I don't much like Wiki's explanation of Easter Bunny's. According to a Pagan friend, the Easter Bunny was created from a "Bird of Paradise." A bird so beautiful that the Goddess was jealous. Because of the jealousy, the Goddess turned the bird into a rabbit. But each year, at the spring equinox, the bird is allowed to change back into a bird and lay its marvelously colored eggs. That one night per year would allow the specie to continue in existence. The next morning the bird changes again into a rabbit. Thus, when people go to bed, they see a rabbit, and the next morning they see a rabbit, but they find all those lovely eggs.
I know, it is myth.......but it is a pretty story and no sillier than many other stories found in the creation stories and legends of peoples around the world..................

According to George Carlin, the tradition of hiding eggs on Easter came from one of the onlookers at Jesus' tomb. When they saw it was empty they shouted: "Jesus is risen! Quick, hide the eggs!!!"
Sorry, could not resist....
