Ditto for the design and construction of religious houses of worship. The cathedrals of Europe, the Temple in Salt Lake city (and it's renowned choir), the churches in Venice & Paris & Westminster Abbey in London.....
I'll tell you what, rifleman, if you ever get to Salt Lake City, look me up and we'll go hear the Tabernacle Choir together. I love religious music, too, and I agree with you about modern Christ soft rock. Gag! You know what kind of Christian music I absolutely love? Gregorian chants.
Your really not that important for me to pay you any attention or even debate with.
Hello, June, I'm glad that you brought your concern to my attention.
My statement was not meant to be hateful, I just didin't want or feel the need to debate. But sorry anyway. I meant for my statement to come out one way, but it seems that you took it another. So, once again I'm sorry.
I can very much relate to what you're saying. I'm also very interested in architecture, both modern and ancient, and I've been to many of the great cathedrals in Europe and elsewhere. When you consider the fact that we didn't have electricity, power tools, cranes and all of the modern conveniences in building construction and yet cathedrals were built that were literally works of art it was an incredible accomplishment. France and Italy in particular have some of the most impressive. I've been to St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, Chartres Cathedral in France, Notre Dame and other notable places in or near Paris and quite a few others. Speaking of acoustics I understand that many of these buildings were designed in such a way that the sound of the choir or the organ or even the sermon could be heard in any part of the main room. Of course this was long before the invention of speakers and amplification.
My brother and his wife both have Master's Degrees in Music and also have various responsibilities in the music program at their church. My brother has had the opportunity to play large pipe organs at quite a few locations. Personally I love the sound of a pipe organ and have quite a few cd's of classical music played on them. So from another atheist, I understand what you're saying and I feel exactly the same way.
