Since fundies generally argue that radiocarbon dating is not reliable, I will add this.
According to Dr. Walter McCrone and his colleagues, the 3+ by 14+ foot cloth depicting Christ’s crucified body is an inspired painting produced by a Medieval artist just before its first appearance in recorded history in 1356.
The faint sepia image is made up of billions of submicron pigment particles (red ochre and vermilion) in a collagen tempera medium. The pigments red ochre and vermilion with the collagen tempera medium was a common paint composition during the 14th century; before which, no one had ever heard of the Shroud.
It's interesting to note that the sudden appearance of the shroud in history happens to coincide with the dates from the radiocarbon tests. Also, consider the master artists during that time which have never been surpassed in terms of technical skill. I don't think it would have been difficult to produce such an object by a talented artist and they obviously did a very good job of it.

i was probably leonardo de vinci that forged it!!!! they had a special progam on tv that was trying to prove that leonardo de vinci forged it.... it was very convincing.. that's what make's me wonder about the authenticity of all the old written testaments of the world..
The shroud is contrary to scripture. When we read the text it says in John 20:6: "Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, 7:And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself."
So, there was a piece of cloth called a napkin here in the text that was on his head and the linen clothes (plural) in a separate place. So, the shoud of turin which is one piece, does not match the account. Since the bible is the truth, then the shoud is a fake or the bedcloth of someone other then Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Historically, the Jewish people of this time wrapped in strips of linen. If we read John 11:44: "And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go." We see that Lazarus was burried in the same fashion as Jesus Christ with a napkin around the head. So the scripture supports the separate napkin on the head of Christ at his burial.
It'd be cool if it was real, but I'm not going to build any doctrines off of it.
