It may be good news for you now but I dont think it will be so great when you have passed on. In the bible it says every knee shall bow and every tounge confess I am Lord. So he is real I just hope you find out before its too late. God Bless You!

He's real because the bible said so?

Here we go again......

The Bible says that when they die, they simply are unconscious or dead. Death is always opposite of life. How are they going to bend down and acknowledge anyone if they're unconscious and dead ???

Ecclesiastes 9:5-6,10 - "New Living translation"
Quote:
verse 5
"The living at least know they will die, but the dead know nothing. . ."

verse 6
"Whatever they did in their lifetime - loving, hating, envying - is all long gone . . "

verse 10
" . . . for when you go to the grave, there will be no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom."
That looks to me as something impossible for them to acknowledge or say anything. Not only their thoughts, but also any emotions and feelings are wiped out as well.

Proslytizing in a thread, completely off topic, is against C-D's T&Cs. Please do read them.

As for BCJohnny's combative comebacks, despite his original short but ohh-so-obvious baiting troll, I was going to launch another far-too-long post to deal with each of his points, but I see others have done it for me. Thanks guys. No need to wear out my fingertips here just repeating what you've all said so succinctly!

BTW, reffing one of YOUR other posts, "For those atheists who want to learn more about one of your founding mothers of your movement, there is an interesting 20/20 on WE cable channel. What a bizarre life!"

You wouldn't be impuning the general atheist "life-style" would you? Our "movement"???? The only "movement" I worship daily involves a ceramic vessel and a ream of soft, very soft, tissue... Mmmmmmm.

As if, as you believe, that we're some sort of unified body of weirdos, with a set of dogmatic iconic practices? Painting our bodies blue? Howling at the moon? Or just a bunch of logical free-thinkers, looking at the vast evidence against god's fantasy existance? And then, in a very dis-organized, un-religious manner, simply turning our backs on it all? As per the OP of this thread?

If you'd like, I can certainly point out the Christian loonies by the literal thousands. But again, some of my faves: Benny Hinn! Perhaps a "philosophical" hero of yours? Or Kent Hovind? With this...

http://paknewz.com/2009/04/20/why-do...nists-part-28/

I will summarize though: I use Wiki since it's so easily accessible. If you wish, BCJ, to check out ANY other definition of artheism versus that for religion, please do so. And perhaps you could report back here with your findings, as others have stated and defined them, neatly and honestly summarized?

You can always find exceptions to anything. That does not prove the larger case nor argument. Perhap the obvious and documented growth of disbelief in organized religion or Christianity we are witnessing is simply because of the ever-more-desperate antics of the Christian acolytes? Just possibly? Remeber that video I linked...

Unapologetic Atheism, Aggressive Secularism Growing in Europe
effie: my sincere apologies for initially ignoring your valuable post. I read it all just now, and found it very enlightening. Seems that Europe now has it's hands full with growing Muslim extremism, similar to when they fought off Christian extremism back a few centuries ago. (Those pesky Inquisitionist Spaniards!)

If Christians had their way here in America, we would have book burnings, toppled science curricula, forced prayer, mandatory bible study, etc etc., all in the name of an ancient mythology. It's true; they tried in the past, and continue to do so today (see Ohio and Kansas Boards of Education. Yikes!! This should even scare moderate Christians!)

Why not have a Zeus god monument at the entranceway of all modern highschools? Because our oh-so-bright forefathers carefully prevented the toxic mix of Chruch and State, including school. Thank God, so to speak...

"And thus, the logic and clarity of atheism grows like a rose in the sun..."
(I think it was the good Dr. Dawkins???)

No, wearing clothing doesn't make you religious, it can be part of what makes you religious. What I said makes sense even if you can't understand it.

Perhaps, but that's not at all what I was saying. It's irrelevant.

Isn't undestanding something part of what makes it make sense? If you don't understand it, what is the point of claiming that it makes sense?

A prohibitive comparison.
