I'm an atheist who doesn't feel the need to do to them what they're attempting to do to me, sooooo... I inform them that I'm not interested in anything they have to say, and on their way out they can drink from the garden hose if they're thirsty (it's very hot here most if the year).

The great commission?

Mat 10:5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and charged them, saying, Go not into any way of the Gentiles, and enter not into any city of the Samaritans:
Luk 10:7 And in that same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. (ASV)

Two versions but should be an indicator of how it is supposed to work. Philip the evangelist was instructed to go minister to the eunuch.

LDS missionaries are not a sales force nor are they brainwashed. But yes, most do recognize a lost cause.

I tell them I already have a religion, thank you very much. (Occasionally, this turns out not to be an acceptable answer to the missionaries--why, I couldn't tell you. But when that does happen, I close the door and have nothing more to do with them.)

Mormons feel that they can add to the truths others already have. I mean wouldn't it be pretty incredible if what the LDS missionaries have to teach you is actually true, as millions of people testify? God the Father and Jesus Christ appearing to their chosen prophet of the restoration in broad daylight, standing in the air and speaking to him. Then Peter, James and John, John the Baptist, Moses, Elijah and others appearing and retoring priesthood keys that they held anciently.

It's well worth some time investigating for yourself. I did, and found out it was all true...

Mormonism is a lie from hell, and is not Christian.

What a profound philosophical statement

Maybe I was right in my response to you the 1st time.

But of course you fundies will find common ground with them to bash the gehys and ignore all your own shortcomings and own lil' nuances that have nothing to do with the teachings of Jesus.

This just goes to prove that christianity in any form is a scam, boils down to who's ponzi scheme is "better" than the other one.

Last summer a couple LDS missionaries stopped my husband on his way out of the holler to ask if anybody actually lived out this way. Being the prankster that he is, he sent them right to me. :| I was polite, but told them I was content with atheism and instructed them how to find their way back out of here.

I thought that when I learned about it in school - golden tablets and angels called mormon and moroni? Purlease! - This gradually led me to thinking about what I believed - erm talking burning bushes, virgin mothers, global floods with a REALLY big wooden boat with all the different animals happily sharing together, whales swallowing people whole.......
Seriously? What?
All religions are equally ridiculous - none are any worse than the others - expect perhaps scientology
