Again....this is a guy that is basically loved by everyone....he preaches sappy, feel-good messages that don't offend anyone....he draws 40k to his "church" every week....he writes best-selling books saying how to have your "best life now"...

His wife is pretty...he's got perfect teeth....

Then lookout....he dares to make a statement that homosexuality is somehow not the best for a person...and bam! The gay activists are shredding him.

Seriously guys...there are a lot of reasons to hammer this guy--but he's hardly someone that goes around hating. I guess I should probably be happy to see him get ripped....but frankly, I find it interesting that you guys will turn on even the weakest, lamest preachers out there if he doesn't toe the line.

I belong to a large church (4000 members). We have several plasma tvs in our foyer. They are there so that any overflow or latecomers will be able to hear the service.

Because we are so large, we have been able to do a great many good works in our community. About a year ago, we opened a free medical & dental clinic for the poor in our community. We have a number of "wealthy" members. They are very giving people.

There's probably a lot you don't know about what this church does. "Don't judge a book by it's cover."
So it's ok to be bigots and promote hate as long as you feed poor people? Ok. Sure.

Again, LISTEN to his sermons.

Drape a bomb in tinsel and bright ribbons, it's still a bomb.

The underlying message he gives out is no different that Robertson's or Fallwells or Grahams.

He merely sugercoats that nasty medicine so it goes down smooth.

I didn't say that; you did.

I was referring to my church. We don't hate anyone. All are welcome. We help the needy because we love Jesus.

I don't belong to a church. I accept any person who has integrity and an honest work ethic. And I help the needy because it's my responsibility as a citizen of the world.

And absolutely no prostylizing occurs while you're helping the needy?

actually, it is not really tax-free, but, instead of deleting the amount from the tax base, it is instead, spread out among all the real taxpayers. We end up paying for the megachurch because they don't have to pay their own taxes. Hummmmmm makes me wonder if I could get away with going in the church and taking out, then taking home, one of the pews I have paid for. Or, maybe a lecturn, ......

Those church members are real taxpayers too, aren't they?
