Can anyone tell me why men lived to be 800-900 years old in the Old Testament. I just don't understand.

Why can any fictional character have any trait the author chooses?

Wikipedia states that it's all speculative, and the speculations fall into four categories: literal, mistranslation, symbolic, and fictional interpretations. Methuselah - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The same reason that vampires and elves are immortal. It's a fairytale.

I would please like a little bit of CHRISTIAN opinion here. You atheists, agnostics, and mormons can go to your own forum, please.

Our bodies are still to this day designed to live much longer than 70-90 years, and in times past our bodies did live much longer, hundreds and hundreds of years.
In the same way humans utilize only 10-12% of our brain capacity, so to we fall far short in utilizing the far greater capacities of our body, including the capacity to live longer.
Many things contribute to shortened lives today, including the belief that we only live say 90 years, living unhealthy lifestyles, filling our bodies and minds and hearts and emotions with toxic junk, disconnection from Nature, disconnection from Spirit, and a willingness to let others (institutions, schools, religions, governments, science) think for us instead of thinking for ourselves. Those are just a few things.

Perhaps you should take your own advice. The R&P forum is for everyone. If you don't want to hear from anyone but christians, then post in the christianity forum. You certainly won't find any posts by me in there.

actually this is partially correct. prior to the flood much more of the planet's moisture was contained in the atmosphere and the water vapor prevented harmful radiation from reaching the surface allowing the body to regenerate for much longer periods of time. you lost cells less rapidly and there was significantly less free radical damage to the organisms on the planet.
