I did a Beth Moore study on Daniel and it was truly amazing what I learned. He was quite a remarkable man who learned to listen to God and to wait on His time.
Deinitely Paul, formerly Saul of Tarsus. Not exactly for his own merit, but for the way in which God took a persecutor of Christians and made him His own servant. A man that never even met Jesus face to face took up his cause and preached to many cities while being shipwrecked, shipped off to Rome to be tried by Ceasar, imprisoned, beaten along the way. And is responsible for half the NT, which makes for some fine reading. Some of the most rousing verses ever quoted by preachers or Christians in general were penned by him.
As far as normal people in the Bible, I would also have to say Paul. I agree with what fromcenFL said! He used someone that persecuted Christians and turned him around for His glory!
However...and everyone will probably think I am CRAZY here
I very much admire the thief on the Cross that asked Jesus to remember him.
Luke 23:42-44
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
Maybe this seems somewhat twisted, however, despite everything this man did (thief and ??) he had the honor of hanging their right next to Jesus Himself...and despite the pain he was going through and his inevitible fate, he still BELIEVED and asked Jesus to remember HIM! That is just AWESOME!

No, No, No, not crazy at all. Just think, we now can have hope that we can turn to Christ on our deathbed! What a great feeling if we know or have family that have never accepted Christ, and after they are sick, they can still turn to Him. The thief gave us Hope.
The woman who wanted to only touch the hem of His garment really speaks to me. So often I long to just fall at His feet and touch the hem of His garment. Oh the comfort that would bring.
I like the fictional characters, David, Bathsheba, Ammon, and Absalom. I just love all the characters in 2 Samuel. It has some great stories in it that cover rape, murder, incest, conspiracy to commit murder, voyeurism, pornography, adultery, child torture, and exhibitionism.
