Hello all,

I spent many years living in the Carson Valley/Minden-Gardnerville area. However, I've been gone from the area for almost 15 years now. I'm wondering what crime is like now. I read somewhere online that had crime stats/break-ins and theft at a very high number. I'm wondering how accurate this report is. When I used to live there, crime was not really an issue, and it was mostly petty, bored teenager type stuff. Has this area gone downhill? Is it a safe place to live?

I'm pretty sure Gardnerville has had an increase in car thefts recently. As far as other crimes, I'm not really sure.

Although, maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Douglas County have a pretty bad meth problem?

dude

Cason City - yes crime rate is terrible there compared to Gardnerville.
Quote:
An Indian Hills man who admitted to robbing the Carson County Market received more than two decades in prison

This crime was after he was drunk he was mad on Pizza Factory employee and didn't want to pay.
Quote:
man who took $132 during an April burglary at the Pizza Factory in Minden was sentenced to 2-5 years in prison on Monday
And one real serious crime!
Quote:
A California woman who allegedly shoplifted $10.78 in clothing from the Gardnerville Walmart is facing a felony burglary charge after she was arrested on Thursday.

All others are not Gardnerville. Please go and spin somewhere else.

I can tell you Gardnerville is so safe that you don't need to lock your house or car.

You're right. Your facts have no comparison for perspective. How do you know if this represents a high or low crime rate? Just a list in a local publication. No help whatsoever.

Just a "local publication" that the Douglas County Sheriff redirects to for weekly crime report "hosting".

The County also uses this to help keep the public informed . . . http://douglasnvgis.maps.arcgis.com/...14e38ab9e842eb, it's free and you get what you pay for.

If the Douglas County Sheriff wanted the public to see the whole truth he'd subscribe to LexisNexis which uses real time data and provides historical incident tracking so trends can be seen. There isn't a county in NV that subscribes to it, the reason is obvious!

Using stale data from various cheesy web sites available, Gardnerville is safer than 23% of cities in the United States, Minden comes in at 59%. Quite a contrast!

The extreme contrast between the two areas makes the data questionable at best given their close proximity.

Considering joining the mass exodus from KA?

Folks don't listen him. He was probably candidate for an election. Probably he lost and now he is pissed.

Gardnerville is really nice charming place. Beautiful charming town. Really nice place to live. Nothing to worry about. Crime rate is a joke.

Real issue is not crime. Real issue is housing. Going crazy lately.
