Kansas is windy every single day. Our wind here is nothing. I have lived in 5 states and the weather here is a mild 4 seasons. If you love hot and humid go back to Florida and enjoy all the bugs).

Anything else you would like to complain about?
Maybe they weren't referring to Reno.... and Reno is a big area - you could have 18 degrees near the airport and 12 in the hills like Sommersett or North Valleys or Cold Springs. And accuweather is highly inaccurate. We used to use that but had gauges all over our yard and property...and accuweather was off by 10 degrees constantly.

We saw a few sub zeros in Elko but that wasn't reported in the weather apps.

Reno has no wind as far as I'm concerned (sarcasm). Go up towards Stead or Cold Springs and you will get some good gusting. Dayton, a bit more wind. Fernley wins, hands down. I have seen more downspouts and dust devils in the last 5 months than 20 years of living all over this state. Trees grow crooked in Fernley and very often young trees will just snap off. Dust storms will pit your car's paint and windows. 60mph gusts, that's nothing. I lived on the Dayton golf course back in 2008 and the club house clocked a 100mph gust that cracked off a very large and healthy pine tree at the base. There are the doldrums when nothing is happening but that can change in a flash.

The wind can't be as bad in Fernley or any other part of Nevada compared to Wyoming.

Reno is famous for its wind, the Washoe Zephyr. Mark Twain first described it in Roughing It.

The wind was so strong it blew down some early settler cabins.

From what I read, at the time Twain wrote his story, the mountains had been mostly deforested so the lack of vegetation made the wind so much worse than what is experienced today.

If 12F is the coldest it gets in Reno, then I'm going to enjoy living there. I've seen -12F too often in Denver.

I am from Wisconsin and my winter coat is a sweater. It’s sunny most days.

In Albuquerque there are 5 seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall Winter & Wind. And the windy season lasts for 6-7 months and resides in each of the other 4.
