I am saying it is cheaper for me tomove into a monthly hotel, then rent a regular small one bedroom!
It has got to be cheaper in some areas of Las Vegas.

Just curious: Which is more important to you, cheaper rent or the city where you live? There may be cheaper places in Las Vegas, but Las Vegas also has areas that are far worse and more dangerous than Reno (I've lived in both cities).

I am really not thrilled after a year in Carson City. I had a medical respiratory issue so I can barely go outside. At lease in Las Vegas area it looks like they have a solid decent season of weather.

You can rent a one bedroom here for between 1100-1400 unless you are looking for upscale living.

We are finding the same thing. Currently we are in Fremont, CA and looking to move to Reno and finding that rents between the two are not that far apart!

That's sad because you used to be able to have a nice 1 bedroom for $500 in Reno/Sparks.

We lived in Reno for 5 years. Started out at $1200/mo for a 2 bed apartment, downtown near Idlewild Park. Was a gated community but our cars were broken into and stuff stolen and broken around the property all the time. Then I moved to an older place near Lakeridge - $1400 month excluding water/sewer charges. Non stop noise from neighbors and domestic violence. Moved to "luxury" place off Robb Drive above McQueen - paid about $1600 for a large 2 bedroom with fantastic views, near trails, lots of nice grounds. Again, neighbors were insanely loud - video games at max volume until 3AM etc. One neighbor lady who didn't like me tried to run me over with her SUV. Office did nothing. So my apartment - at that complex, now rents for $3000. Just went back to see the property for fun and was shocked how run down it all was. And they don't have any of the large 2 beds available. Reno is getting to be the next Bay Area and it makes me super sad.

Yes, I am honestly just burned out all around. You might like Carson City, but it is small, boring and as smoke filled or worse with smoke than Reno some of the time. I need a different city, climate all around.

Now you have done it, people will be flocking there for the cheap rent and drive the prices up even higher!

Average rent in
Seattle: $2,034
Oakland: $2,774
San Francisco: $3,035
Pleasanton $2,617

Rents are crazy. My adult daughter is looking for her first apartment and the only thing she was able to find that was decent and in a decent area that accepts 1 cat and 1 dog was a 1 bedroom apartment for $1700!! She has her boyfriend to split costs with but damn that is an expensive place!

I own my home now, and the last time I rented was about 6 years ago, and I had a two-bedroom condo for $800! I would move out of this area before I would pay those kind of rental prices. So glad to be a homeowner so I don't have to worry about it, but I feel sorry for all the renters out there.
