I'm trying to think along those lines but at the moment, I now don't have anywhere to stay... And the prices for 1br apts are like $20 off the price of a 2br aka money I definitely don't have

If you are attending school in the fall, I'm sure there are many students like yourself who need roommates. There must be some sort of bulletin board online or something to find people.

Maybe if you call the school they will lead you to the local "roommate finders" system there.
