I moved in to my apartment on May 13, 2010. Since I did not move in on the 1st of the month the rent was prorated. My lease is for a 12 month term, (technically it should have been May 1st 2010 to April 30 2011). When should the lease agreement end...April 30th, 2011?

My lease run April 25th 2010 to April 24th 2011 and it is 12 months prorated first month. Whatever date they wrote on the lease as the end date is what is legal though since you both signed it and agreed to it.

the dates of beginning and ending should be spelled out in the lease. Read the lease and then ask questions.

I always dated my leases to begin on the 1st of the month and end the last day of the 12th month, even when a resident moved in after the 1st and was prorated.

However, if the lease is dated to begin on the 13th of the month, its nothing to be concerned about, providing the understanding had been the lease is for a full 12 months and dated such.

What are your concerns?
