Thanks for the helpful posts, everything is fine, and the landlord took the boarding fees off the rent. He is working on our house and we are pleased with the rate at which things are progressing.

The LL sounds like he is trying his best and doing the proper steps. Treasure that and help someone who may have more stress than you know. Is his own house OK, is his family who live in the area OK?
Get out of the box and help yourselves.

I understand the magnitude of this event, I stated how lucky we came out of the situation. However, I am a young person (in need of more work than my current job), can't afford to take a day off, and i've helped the entire neighborhood on the weekends getting trees off damaged homes, and feel like I've "gotten out of the box" plenty from this situation. All I really came here asking was for information about LL's and boarding fees, not to get a lecture about how to be a model citizen after a disaster (I've been through a few hurricanes growing up). Seems like you assumed a few too many things with your post, but I won't hold it against you.
Thanks again to those that aimed to answer my initial question.
