Slumlord didn't provide me any heat and is now withholding 1.5mo security deposit after we moved out due to constructive eviction.

Wish me luck

We won by default.

LL never showed up. He already blew his one free adjournment and didn't decide to show up to this date. Judge asked me if I was current on rent, if I had cancelled checks, if I had a lease, and if I left the property in good condition, then sent me on my way. Will get judgement in mail, but I can't imagine losing.

Great! Now you will just need to collect -- that's the hard part!

Yep. We had:
A letter from the building department confirming no heat.
Pictures of the furnace not being wired.
Text messages back and forth between me and the LL discussing the lack of heat.
Voicemail from LL saying to move out.
3-4 certified letters that were returned to me that I tried to send to LL.

Yet he still tried to keep our >2000$ deposit.

Easier to collect from a LL than from some tenants...Put a lien on the property!
