i want to rent a house but the owner want to rent month to month that is not normal or it is?

It's not abnormal but realize that at any point depending on your state laws, your LL is 60 days from terminating the lease. On the other hand you are also 60 days from terminating so it may work out in your favor.

More than likely the owner either wants to keep his options open or he doesn't feel like you're a very strong rental candidate so he wants to be able to end a lease without having to go the eviction route.

It is also possible that the house is in foreclosure, and they expect it to happen sooner rather than later, so are just working month to month.
