Yes Southwestern Missouri. Over 12 lakes in the area. Table rock lake , Stockton lake, Truman lake, lake of the Ozarks, Truman lake area around is very cheap . Mobile homes on the lake can be 150.00 a month cabins can be 500.00 to 600.00 a month with all bills paid. Even resorts in the Branson Missouri area rent big lake cabins on table rock lake for the same price with all bills paid on the off season. Me and my wife stayed at green valley resort on table rock lake for 500.00 dollars a month. Two bedroom fully furnished cabin at the waters edge. That even includes free cable TV wi- fi. And daily blankets even full kitchen cooking pots, dishes, and glasses. So call Green valley resorts on table rock lake in Missouri. Just a 5 minute drive to reed springs and 15 minutes to Branson Missouri. Wonderfully nice place and people.
The first thing that came to mind after you stated you won't have a vehicle is Mackinac Island in Michigan. They don't even allow automobiles on the island so it is very easy to get around once you arrive on the island by boat. I honestly do not know how expensive it is so here is the website if you want to check it out. It is GOR-GEOUS! Surrounded by LOTS of blue water, green foliage AND great food, ambiance, people, shops, horse back riding, carriage rides, night life, relaxation, etc., etc.
