im just asking a question, its not happening where i live, but i just got to thinking. what are the rules about people smoking weed in apartment complexes? is there anything landlords can control or enforce?
If the Landlord knows of illegal activity going on in thier apartments, then they should call the Police.
Also, if this affects any other tenent, then they have a right to ask them to vacate the premises
as other tenents shouldnt be afraid for thier lives, if rif-raff come into the complex and start selling drugs, or guns start coming out and scaring them to death.
Personally, if you were my tenant, I would give you 30 days to leave, 'breaking your lease' if necessary, and getting you out of the place.
But, thats my own opinion, and, since I live in a State where 'weed' is still illegal, I would have the Law to back me up
Just to add, in a state where you can legally possess and smoke marijuana due to a medical condition, the landlord cannot kick you out for doing so (assuming you possess a medical marijuana card). However, if the lease forbids smoking indoors (as almost all do) he can still kick you out if you don't confine it to outside. I'll also add that even if you are legal in doing so, you should be prepared for a landlord to kick you out for other reasons if they find out. While there are some people who have a legitimate reason to smoke pot, many are just stoners who got a doctor to say they need to, and landlord's generally don't want anything to do with such people...

agreed. the stuff just smells so rotten. i dont know any landlord who'd put up with having to re do the apartment walls after that person were to move out, let alone deal with the stench billowing out into a hallway. it just seems inconsiderate.

Our properties are non-smoking. Until there is Federal Law allowing pot smoking we will not allow it. There are other ways of ingesting medical marijuana than smoking, so I don't see that happening. Also we do not allow growing or possession, until Federal Law changes. We will not call the police, we will call the DEA, and evict.
Its not that hard. Its "illegal" most everywhere, so that's that.
Either way, just open the windows, and roll a towel to the bottom of the door that leads to the hallway.
Buy air-fresheners if you have too.
Put a window fan, set to blow air out of the apartment if you are having a smoke-a-thon with some friends. Be respectful of your neighbors, and if you give nobody no reason to complain.. well.. that's that.

it always seems that the people in question dont have brain one in their head to get beyond stemming a potential problem.
