I've been served a section 21 eviction notice and have to be out by the 25th march. I have found somewhere else and they want me to move in ASAP. I don't want to lose this new place so will be moving in within 1-2 weeks. I rang the council (it's a privately rented house but through the council) and told them I will be moving out before the eviction date and they have said I will still have to pay rent for the property up until the eviction date. Is this correct??

Ask a real estate attorney NOT people on a public forum.

I have no idea what a Section 21 eviction is, or why you would be evicted if you are current on rent, so I'm not even going to venture a guess on this one as to whether or not you HAVE to legally pay rent for time after you vacate. I agree with CSD, ask an attorney.

I thought Section 21 ment they won't get any rent in arrears through the court and would need to go after pass owed monies ina seperate action. Section 8 is when they want all monies due and ordered to be paid byt he court. Most people on thsi forum are nto familiar with British Law unless they lived in the UK or a place under British law. You really need to ask someone familiar with the various types of Section 21 evictions as there are more than one.
