Under HIPPA laws, the landlord doesn't need anything other than the doctor's signed letter stating that, because of declining health, the mother is advised to find other living arrangements. The landlord can call the doctor, but the doctor cannot give any details about mother's condition. If they come after her for further rent after a 30 day notice if that is the law in your state, shame on them !
Y'all have been very helpful. We are meeting with another doctor tomorrow and the LL on Wed. My mother is a very young 85 year old still drives and is very capable, however I know that at her age it can all change very quickly. I am moving her closer in order to both keep an eye on her and have her live the rest of her life being able to see her family and be a part of our lives on a daily basis. She totally agrees and is really hoping it all works out quickly. Again, thanks everyone for your help.
If your mother is " a very young 85 year old still drives and is very capable" on what basis are you claiming old age and ill health?
This sounds more like want than need at this stage.
