My rental property address does not exist according to every utility company that services my area. The address that is on my lease agreement I am told does NOT exist. Fed-Ex and UPS will not deliver to my house do to an unverifiable address and I had to use my parents address on my drivers license.
I have been told my house was a converted business that was open the 1940s or 1950s. Where do I start looking to get information on this property regarding its history?? The owner is no help at all, she says my address is correct.

Have you checked with USPS to see what they have as an address for your location?

Are you writing this in the dark with no electric or water? Do you get a utility bill? Do you get mail? Have you put your address into a GPS or google maps?
Sometimes after many years an address may be off one or two numbers and it creates problems. Also, many address where created for the 911 system and names and numbers of streets were changed and or created. Go to the post office and ask what is your address.

Can you look it up online at the property appraiser website for your county? That should have the legal address.

Just call the electric company to physically come, inspect your meter and give you the address attached to the meter you are on. Had the same thing happen to me. Once the elec. co. gives you the physical address, you can call all the other utility companies and have it changed.

Start at the Building Department of your city or county.

Street addresses are assigned by the Building Department in my area at the time a permit is pulled.

I too have had at least one address with problems... the property was a corner lot with a 1922 house and a 1944 cottage... all done with permits.

The problem is the street address for the cottage was the street where the house is located and not around the corner where the cottage is located.

Building Department agreed to issue a new street address and made the proper notations. After that... everything was fine.

Is your rental the only dwelling on said property? If so, it should be easy.

If there are multiple dwelling with the same address, my city often has for example: 111 Main Front and 111 Main Rear or 111 Main A and 111 Main B

This works as long as all mail boxes are next to each other.

The conversion of my house was done in 1995. An old Victorian house was converted into my house "The Coach House 108"
and the 3 flats next door Flats 1/2 and 3 108. If you search the postcode on anything at all The Coach House does not come up. It is a problem for all deliveries and booking tickets or flights etc. I have been to the post office and they say they know it and it is registered which it must be because TV License, Council tax and everyone else wanting money can contact me with no problem. How can I rectify this? I have lived here 5 years and its a nightmare.
