We remodeled our condo before renting it. Everything there is new: faucets, toilets, light switches, outlets, fire alarms, paing, carpet, blinds, etc.

The tenants amrked everything "satisfactury" even though "new" was also an option.

Should I accept it?

Thank you

Your receipts from the remodel will prove that everything was new...which box they checked on the page doesn't mean much. When your tenants move out...nothing will be new anymore anyway. Do you have pictures of everything...that's better proof of new.

The difference between "satisfactory" and "new" is insicnificant. New should not be an option. For the purpose of what this checklist is for the condition that matters is satisfactory(not damaged) and unsatisfactory(damaged).

What you should do is sell.

How would the tenants know what is "new" and what isn't? You should be fine with "satisfactory."

But the fact that you're asking this question ... hmmm ...

I think you and the tenants are both afraid LOL! You are afraid they'll damage things, and they are afraid you'll charge them for normal wear and tear!

So, "satisfactory" seems like a good compromise

Summed it up perfectly...come back and let us know how the walk through goes on move-out. Bet it's a legal mess .

You should have done the movein walkthrough with them. When I move someone in, I do write "new" if the term applies such as paint, blinds, appliance, carpet etc. I generally use that plus "good", "fair", "poor" etc with a few words to back it up noting any minor scuffs and that sort of thing.
