I've lived in my very nice apt for a year & almost 2 mos now. I love living here. I'm on the 2nd fl of a 3 floor bldg.

This never happened the whole first year, but the last couple wks, I noticed clear water trickling regularly, but not at a constant pace, throughout the day landing on the side of my tub. I haven't contacted the leasing office yet...I don't see it as a huge deal because the water's practically landing in the tub anyway, so there's no water spot on my hard floor or carpet or anything. I've put a small bucket there & throughout the course of a day, it's been 1/2 filled with water. The hole that the water is coming from is a hole that I assume if people want to put a vertical stand-up pole into it with a basket connected to it to put their toiletries (shampoo bottles, etc.), they can. I never put a pole there.

I've had an upstairs neighbor the whole time I've lived here, so it's not like someone just moved in. Perhaps somone new, but it doesn't sound like it.

What would you think of this?

As a landlord, I tell my tenants that when it comes to later leak.. I need to know ASAP. Water leak can cause a lots of damage over time. Water leak will result in expensive repairs if left neglected over time.

Contact the landlord and let him figure it out. If he is a good landlord, he will thank you and repair it.

Really? You've just watching the water run down the wall? Why?

Call your landlord now and report it.

My complex (owned by a co. not private landlord) handles maintenance requests fast. I put in the request yesterday afternoon. So...I got it taken care of & it was fixed earlier today.

BTW, the water wasn't running down the wall. It was running out of an actual hole built over the tub for some specific draining purpose, so it's not a hole due to damage, etc. The maintenance guy says it happens to everyone. When the pipe under the bathroom sink is clogged, the water will start to run out of this made hole & drop into the tub, so the flooring, carpeting, wall, etc. is not actually being damaged. I'm glad I got it fixed. I asked if this happens to everyone every 1-2 yrs & he said yes.

True. I normally do. There's been a couple little minor things in the past & I've reported them in a timely manner.
