I leased mine with Appliance Warehouse, but as an employee at an apartment complex I only paid right at $20. Their normal rate is less than $35 a month. I would do that as an option until you can purchase your own. I had a resident moving into a new home that had a brand new washer/dryer so I picked up their old set for free other than my maintenance team moving them down from the 3rd floor.
I just hired someone today to pick up my laundry tomorrow morning. She charges $2.00/pound and picks up and delivers. I hired her on Craigslist. Totally worth it to me. I don't have the option of w/d in the apt. I used to haul it to a place who did it for me, but this lady will even pick up and deliver for free. Will let you know if it's not the heaven I'm anticipating :-)

My nephew had a laundress and she did a great job on his clothes, he fired her when her kid showed up wearing my nephew's shirts. She was a good laundress, but a stupid thief. She stole work shirts with our business name and logo on it..

Made me laugh! That's brazen...and incredibly stupid!
All I've got are old t-shirts and jeans. She'd almost be doing me a favor if she stole them and I had to go to the thrift store to get newer ones.

Wow, I hope you aren't using someone who will take & never bring your stuff back! Did you check references?

I took a chance on her, since my stuff is really pretty junky old stuff anyway, and I didn't give her everything, just in case lol!
But, she was fantastic!! Showed up on time, both picking up and delivering. She brought a hand-held scale with her, and put my plastic laundry bags full of laundry into her special mesh one that attaches to the scale. She weighed my laundry right here, so I knew exactly how much to pay her the next day. She showed up on time the next day with all of my shirts hung on hangers that i supplied her, and my other stuff perfectly folded and everything smelling great!
It was 20 pounds of laundry, and cost me $40. Was totally worth it to me. My little splurge for myself. And I'm worth it lol!
