Here goes,
I co-signed a lease with a friend for moving in the apartment in july 2014. He currently lives in that apartment and i will be moving in with him in july 2014. The issue is the lease had a space for current address and i did put the address i currently live at however i just realised that i dont have my name on the lease for the apartment i live in as i moved in temporarily for 6 months. The lease has name of someone else and there is no documented proof that i live there. Will there be issues if the landlord decides to check for my background and stuff?

Whose utility bill?
Apparently the people who handle the lease stuff wanted him to sign the lease before 31st jan if he wanted to renew the lease. He wanted someone to co-sign so i gave it a thought and did it. However i put my current address ( my name is NOT on the current address lease) in the previous address space. Can i just say i have been couch-surfing between people's apartment and ask the lady to remove that address from the lease?

You cosigned a lease or an application? If you cosigned a lease, the landlord is probably not going to be performing any additional reference checks on you.

If you are saying that you are living there with out the landlords permission, that could be come an issue if they check that landlord for a reference. But they probably won't if you did not give them the landlords name and contact information.
