I just moved into a great apartment in the city. I only have one complaint. The water (from any faucet) doesn't get any hotter than lukewarm.
Seeing as the extreme winter weather has not been very kind me I have grown desperate. Is a hot shower too much to ask for? I am assuming the units don't have separate water tanks because the land lord pays the water but I have a hard time believing that the whole building goes without hot water. If I called the property manager would they be able to do anything?

Every state where I have read the laws requires that the landlord provide hot water, otherwise the apartment is considered uninhabitable and you could be entitled to break your lease if it is not corrected immediatly. Read up on your state laws and send a written demand that this be corrected immediately.
You should use a thermometer and let the PM know what temp you are getting - it might be that it is what is permitted by your state law. Something else you should learn before calling: what does state law require.
Another first post complainer who may or may not come back.
Why such a rude comment? The OP only posted less than 2 hours ago! And if he doesn't return to the thread then that may be because he found the answer he needed.

It is not rude just a statement of fact and the amount of time between posts usually means nothing.
There are so many renters who have no clue what their rights are but cannot seem to do a search on the www or read their lease to find out what those rights are.
I guess it is much easier to post on a forum and have others do all the research work for you than to do it yourself.
My original comment was not directed to you.

It was still rude, inconsiderate and contained nothing helpful. Why bother...
