Anyone with such a dibilitating condition should really consider renting a single family home instead of an apartment. They would have more control over their environment.

It's not just in apartments. My neighbor who is located 100's of feet away from my house cooks bacon and pancakes every Sunday morning. I know because I can smell it.

Someone in my neighborhood cooks the best mouthwatering barbecue. They are up the hill, so I don't know which house, but darn, it smells good.

this...100%. If you know you have a medical or mental condition that could be gravely affected by living in a multi unit building, it's up to YOU to find appropriate housing. Its not up to the landlord/manager or owner to restrict the other tenants for your issues unless it's covered under ADA act somewhere.

so true...which why I asked the poster what their solution, to their problem, was.

Their best bet is to buy a single family home and install a complete air filtration system to keep their indoor air quality as pure as possible because asking me to stop burning candles, cooking, grilling or using dryer sheets isn't going to happen.
