(South Texas) Question: I broke into my own apartment during an argument with my significant other, can I be kicked out for this or what other consequences am I facing?

Depends... some States all that has to happen is for the Landlord to give notice.

Also, the breaking part needs to be addressed... if you kicked in a door... you would be history in a property I manage.

Depends... How much damage did you do, are you planning on having it fixed?

Next time, instead of kicking your door in on your significant other, take a walk and cool off. If (s)he won't let you in after that, call the police and tell them (s)he won't let you in.

Were the police part of this scenario?? Read your lease.....sometimes having the police come because of your behavior is a deal breaker......

Describe "break in." And while you're at it, why didn't you use your key?

And was there a law enforcement response?

You'd be out of my place and you would be paying to repair the damage.

Anything else besides the door or window broken? Holes punched into walls? Bathroom door kicked in? Was there any screaming or shouting that disturbed any of the neighbors?

I won't allow a tenant to stay if they are deliberately causing damage to my unit. There is an extremely good chance that you can be evicted in almost any state. Even in the pro-tenant states, landlords are not required to keep tenants who do deliberate and extensive damage, and Texas is not pro-tenant

It seems to me there must be a pretty wide latitude of violating the law that could justify eviction of a tenant, particularly crimes involving domestic violence or other assault, drug use or sales, or destruction of property.
