You would need to speak with you agency HR or municipal personnel office to find out what, if any, programs exist. There are many programs to assist certain types of government employee to live within certain communities.

Police normally are provided rental subsidies in communities where the rental rates are prohibitively high for the salary they make. The intent is to get these officers to move into the community they police instead of living way out in the suburbs. There are also programs to bring police officers back to distressed community through purchase or renovation assistance.

There is also a program to provide assistance to public school teachers similar to what is available to police.

Normally there has to be a need to subsidize and the positions eligible also have to be directly connected to the community.

I have seen them give a free and/or designated parking area for their police car.

Of course you can ... and watch him get fired when his department finds out about it. This kind of dishonesty is taken very seriously by many departments.

whenever a landlord shows a unit, they tell you how much a month........ for example.... starting at "400 - 615 a month"

it's not illegal to let someone rent for cheaper.

for example ok someone might own a complex that is retired police....they might show a unit to a current cop and knock 50 bucks a month off but just dont tell them from the get go. its alot easier when you dont tell them the exact price instead of a ball park figure of what rent runs.

see how that works?

another example is when i rented a 2 bedroom from someone, it was only me renting

so i got a cheaper price than someone else in the building who had 3 people with them in the unit.

hopefully this explains it.

There is no discount for government workers. Why would there be?
